I’m 54, have arthritic hands, and a severe case of the dropsies from unsuccessful carpal tunnel surgery… afraid to buy these because of some of the reviews, however, I’ve been given a “ spiral perm” four times now, and all four times the only thing different was that they put the curlers up and down instead of sideways, which made no difference whatsoever in the perm or the type of curls which resulted. I first used the rods to set my hair. I was extracting with the curls and played with my hair quite a bit before I even took the picture, so a little bit of the curl was already gone. I love the bounce and the look a lot better. I purchased two quantum perms for hard to wave hair, cotton to put around my face, end wraps, and this set of curlers, which altogether cost a lot less than if I would’ve just made an appointment a few weeks out, went in for the hair test listen to them preached to me about am I sure I want to get a perm? It’s not the style anymore. My medications may affect the outcome, wouldn’t I just like to get some hair color and cover my gray, and all that jazz….along with tipping someone who almost certainly did not listen to me tell them that my head is crooked, and you cannot give me a uniform haircut because it will not lay right!!!! But of course they always do as they please, hahaha! don’t get me started, lol! I wanted to see how hard they were going to be to use and also to see what my hair would look like. Admittedly, it was a littleharder to get them out after the perm than from an already dried set only, but I expected that. All in all, I can tell you that the maker of these perm rods could’ve taken a little bit of time to clean them up a little better whether they are molded or 3-D printed. I’m not sure but they do have little tabs of plastic here and there. It wouldn’t hurt too take a little file to them before you start. And the only other complaint I would have is that I messaged the company that I bought them from and asked if I could buy some more of the clips that go on them because some of them are most certainly going to get lost over time and some rods took more than one. Luckily I did not use all of the curlers so I had extra clips to use. The message I sent for a reply that was less than courteous along Customer Service lines informing me that they do not make them and the item comes as is. Hopefully, the maker will soon sell some of the clips separately. I have a young relative going to beauty school right now and have told her all about these. I plan to reuse them over and over. It was a lot easier for me to set my hair with these, not having to do precise measurements and fool with the comb and make straight lines, and all of that I just grabbed a little section of hair, combed it straight, wrapped it around, slipped the clip on and went onto the next one, and I was done in less than a third of the time it would’ve took me to roll with regular perm rods! I hope this helps prospective buyers.

i finally got around to trying these! .... took a moment to learn .... but once i did, and learned to keep the sections smaller & wrap consistently from root thru to the very ends it worked great (with gel).... *important: dont lose the lil red clips....( i rcvd 5 extra pcs).....they (surprisingly) secured the ends perfectly smooth & were very easy to use....i bought this set to do someone else's hair..... i personally wouldn't do this to my own hair as my arms would likely give out!.... once i figured out the correct method, its went pretty fast ....a full head of these rods are a bit heavy & cumbersome to wear., especially for the hours it takes hair to thoroughly air dry which is essential for a defined lasting spiral! ...i definitely wouldn't recommend sleeping with it - ouch! ... it was very easy to remove .... & final results were excellent = uniformed highly defined spirals that lasted 2 days (prob wld hv lasted longer - but i had to shampoo)....just be sure to use a good gel, comb thru, be consistent root to end & let dry completely & don't over separate! .... rods are very durable & easy to clean & store. I highly recommend (especially) if u hv someone to apply them for u! glad we tried them. enjoy!

Did not curl my hair.

These can definitely give you a spiral curl! They take some getting used to and I don’t think I’ve quite mastered them. It’s too time consuming for me to do regularly especially because my hair is really long. I imagine this is easier to use on shorter hair lengths so you don’t have to piggyback the rods. They seem good quality though!

Used them for a perm, they turned out cute! These rods created a fun perm. Tight curls but was a pain to roll!! Took FOREVER. They unhook at the neck easy because they are so stiff, very uncomfortable for the client, Not sure if do it again.

Ok so I bought these after the mixed reviews. I found if you start at the bottom of the strand of hair and twist your hair around it works easier. Clip at top and bottom. I tried these on the mannequin head I have and looks cute as hell. No need to perm the hair just use on wet hair and use mouse and gel and you will see amazing results. So far I love these.

Good quality. Clips were a little hard to clip on but still worked well. Did a great job just make sure to do a lot of smaller strands and don't let them get to bulky for best results!

Returned because o didn’t think I’d suit a curly perm. Regretting it now. Will definitely reorder

They gave a nice curl. The clips to secure the hair on the rod are difficult to apply.
