Great little unit for a great price.
What's not to like about this unit? It seems to be solidly built, starts easily, and run quietly. It's also easy to pack around. Plus you have your choice of fuels - gas or propane.I purchased this in February in anticipation of many camping trips throughout the spring, summer, and fall. But the COVID-19 scare has forced many of my early trips to be cancelled due to closed camping areas. So far I've used it on one trip and it worked like a Champion!I have contacted Champion Tech Support on two occasions - once by email and the other by phone. I had questions regarding how to set up the propane connection so I can use my camp trailer LPG system. I was extremely happy with their responsiveness and helpfulness. They provided the list of fittings that I would need plus detailed instructions. It all went together like they described and it works great! Now I don't have to carry separate fuel for the generator - I can use my RV LPG system. It works exactly as expected, has a great warranty, plus an excellent support staff. And the price is pretty good too. It is also expandable if more power is required. I highly recommend this unit.

Great generator at a decent price
This is a good product in terms of price, noise level and reliability. I personally recommend the Champion dual fuel 2000w model that has the EZ start option (model 100402) over the version with the manual start option. The EZ start model is a little bit bigger, heavier and more expensive. However, it's much easier to start. For example, I have both versions (manual and EZ start) and my wife is not able to get the manual version started. If you have any concerns about ease of use, then I highly recommend the 100402 model. However, you should note that even the easy start version requires pulling a cord several times to get started. It's cannot be started with only the push of a single button. If you want a generator that starts with the turn of a key and/or the push of a button, then this is not the model for you. With that said, it's really easy to start this generator with the turn of a dial and a few pulls of the cord.

Outstanding Customer Service
To be honest I had a problem when the generator suddenly refused to start on propane. It was a Sunday and I really needed it. I call their customer support number not really thinking I would get help but to my suprise I did get a support person who did an amazing job of determining the propane regulator was bad. They shipped a new one the next day ( Monday) via FedEx 2 day. Amazing little generator with awsome customer support!

Most features available in it's class
There aren't any others that I could find that had a dual fuel option in a small under 50 pound size. Having seen champion generators keep up with the workers on various construction sites I've been on for the past several years, I decided it was worth buying. This product is very well engineered. Draining out the gas for storage is a breeze. Changing the oil is easy. Switching fuel sources is easy and if you are familiar with starting two-cycle equipment, you will have no trouble. A little tip: move slowly between choke and run as the engine is starting up. And never start it with anything plugged in. My 12 year old son was able to start it on gas and shut down and then switch to propane and start it with very little coaching. The status screen is where this model is way above the competition. It gives you power usage level, gas tank level, total hour meter, run time remaining (gasoline mode), maintenance reminders, and eco mode. The power output is consistent with it's rating. I tested various things with an amp meter hooked up and brought it to the max. My only complaint is that the 12 volt outlet is not regulated. It can be anywhere from 16-24 volts. The manual talks about this as being normal and mentions being careful using it. Unless you're prepared to make some creative adapters, the included cell phone charger may be the only thing you can use with that outlet. It's a minor limitation that I can live with, but be aware of it if you are buying it specifically for that feature. I wouldn't use that outlet to charge my car battery, but I would use the generator to power a 120 volt car battery charger. I bought this specifically to use with my camper so I wouldn't have to lug a gas can. I can use the camper's onboard propane tanks and outlet port to power it. You will need to make adapters to do that if you want, but customer support will actually help you find the correct adapters for what you desire. I tow my camper with a full-size van so the generator has to live inside the van and not stink up the place; this is perfect for that. Honda or Yamaha doesn't have anything like this, and any other brands I wouldn't consider direct comparisons. Keep up the good work Champion!

Didn't work, bad design, poor customer service.
I tried to start with propane and it would not start. Tried to get the spark plug out to check it, but a normal socket would not fit it because the plug housing did no allow enough room to get the socket on the plug. This is really poor design if you can't even get the spark plug out. I tried their 24/7 help line, but they never answered and did not return my call.I returned this one and got another one from home depot and it too would not start with propane. I did not try it with gasoline, but I did not want to deal with that mess, which is why I bought this model. It was light weight and claimed to be quiet and seemed perfect for emergencies. This was big disappointment. Didn't work, bad design, poor customer service.
