Competition Croquet Balls (Set of 4)

These $99 balls were not suitable for the type of competitive croquet that we play (with cast iron wickets and 3 lb mallets). The black ball developed a bad crack in the plastic veneer on the first day. On the second day the blue ball exploded into about 20 pieces when it received a firm whack! Fortunately the owner of Oakley Woods was very accommodating and allowed us to upgrade to the $150 set of balls for a $50 upcharge. The new balls have played very well for a week with no problems. Don't waste your time or money!

It's easy for most novice players of a particular sport to make a poor or not quite the best decision when purchasing a new product. This was almost the case when I placed an order for croquet balls with Amazon. There is not a lot of information available on the internet about croquet balls because it is not the most popular sport. I placed my order and within a day I got a call from Amazon's supplier with questions regarding my order. He then directed me to another set that would more closely meet my needs. I could not thank him enough because he recommended the right set and I avoided having to return one set and getting the correct set through trial and error. I applaud Amazons choice of conscientious suppliers. Now I have the right stuff.
