There's a lip all the way round where the machines slot in. If they aren't matched in size I wouldn't stack them. You need to have the whole thing really safely balanced or it will topple. **Q: Can it be used with a plastered wall?** A: The tumble dryer just stacks on top of the washing machine, it doesn’t attach to a wall. Really good item, particularly with the pull out shelf **Q: Is it still safe not to use the wall mounting strip? the wall in the laundry room is not make of brick ie not sturdy** A: When my plumber installed this for me he didn’t fix it to the wall but used a strong white band around both the washing machine & tumble dryer. I do not know if the band is included in the box.
