The Friendly Book (Little Golden Book) Hardcover – Picture Book, January 10, 2012

One of my very favorites from my childhood - I now purchase for new parents for another generation to know.

Just a sweet story to read to little ones at bedtime

This in rhyme story was a child favorite of mine finding it again was beyond amazing. Even as a child the art work was not lost on me. It's a positive " I like" read. Be sure to show your child the pictures.

There was a portion of the book that had been changed from the one I read to my son when he was little.

I love Little Golden Books! This one was maybe a little simplistic for my 4 year old but she liked it and it will probably be a good reader when she gets older. It wasn't really a story--each page is about things "I Like". The illustrations are cute.

I am an overseas customer. I have no problem with the products I have purchased from Amazon, but I do have a problem with the shipping policy. I very seldom buy from Amazon because by the time the product reaches me the total price (item and postage) can be 3 or 4 times the original item price. This is stupid!!! Time is usually not a factor in receiving the goods but shipping at 3 times the price of the goods is!!! My latest purchase of a rare book was, item cost US$11.96 shipping US$24.98. By the time this goes into the exchange rate my total cost was about $56, It's about time you gave customers the option to use standard surface or low cost standard mail. The shipping cost is why I only rarely buy from Amazon. I can get better value elsewhere.

This cute book was a gift for my cousin's daughter for Christmas. She is just shy of 4 years old, and when she opened her gift, she started flipping through the pages. A little while later, amid the chaos of the day, I saw her again "reading" it.The artwork is adorable. I like the Little Golden Book format, with the hard cardboard cover and tight binding.All in all, it made a great gift. I've added it to the list of books to add to our library.

The Friendly Book and I have been best friends since 1954 and I am so pleased to be able to provide copies for a new generation of children. I love the exuberance of the prose, "I like cars! Red cars! Green cars! Sport limousine cars!" (The exclamation marks are mine.) Wonderful for reading outloud and sharing the positive message of enjoying a wide variety of things and people. Any book that ends in, "I like people." is on my share list.

I had tis book when I was a little girl and passed it on to my children. It is so very Nice that I found this Amazing book on line for my grandson. I am so happy!

Me and my sister had this book as children and was one of our favourites. The repeating text describes all the things that one can appreciate about people, animals and things. The Garth Williams illustrations are absolutely wonderful, full of details that children love to discover and point out over and over each time. My nanny-children always love this book. The two-year-old boy adores the car picture and we tell about all the things that are happening in it over and over again. it has a deeper message that even though some people are sad or mad, some are fat or thin or tall or short, we can like them all. We discuss why each person might be sad or happy etc, which teaches kindness, empathy and motional intelligence. It has pages of people, boats, dogs, cars, trains etc. Wonderful book for little boys which gets asked for again and again.

Has big pictures of Cars, Trains, Stars etc. Son loves variety of cars and trains. There isn't a story, but just a pictorial representation of things. Attracts attention of a child. He likes to view them and imagine!

Interesting illustrations and poetry. Good for toddlers. Great value for money.
