I would not buy again
It doesn't produce as much heat as a built in hob but it's a decent temporary replacement. The main problem was that it broke after about two weeks.

Failed and tripped main breaker after 4 months' use.
It delivered much more heat than my previous 1500 watt hob - I'm fairly sure I actually measured the power in use as 1500 watts - but I assume the simmerstat was not protecting it from overheating.After 4 months of regular use, it tripped the main breaker in the house without blowing the local fuse and the unit is now open circuit - so I have to assume the element failed and momentarily caused an earth fault ...Since I only paid £15 for it and it's a bit grubby, I will probably not attempt to return it...
