Premium Handle Scales, Knife Making Material, Set of 2

Product looks great. Fast shipping. Arrived as promised. I have not made a knife with them. It is a present for my Son.

I added this to my knife blank after I had shaped the back of it and sanded the non-dyed side down to a better workable thickness. the dyed side comes polished fairly well, however after a little edge shaping and a very lite sanding on the polished side, I noted that the dye isn't very deep. Other dyed horn scales I have used are dyed all the way through and not just on the surface. I was disappointed that after the lite sanding, it was all black and no discernible striations could be seen.

When ordering I didn't realize or didn't think about the color wouldn't be the same all of the way through, that it was basically just on the surface. They are natural horn and won't respond to a dye like a wood product. I'm not sure what the color would be after you worked the scales to fit a handle. As I have read from other reviews, I understand something of the grayish/blackish in color, however not sure. Also understand they will polish up very well. If that works for you these would be a really great knife scales. I returned them as I was looking for a particular finished color. I would suggest that the item details part of the product be very clear that the appeared color is not necessarily the finished color. Side note, Amazon has a really slick return/refunding process.

They are pretty cool but one of mine arrived with a split in the wood. Hopefully it doesn't mess up the final result.

The scales were warped and one of them has a crack in it . I am not happy with this product
