Arrow 1

I missed reading comics
I love Arrow but more than that I love reading a good book or comic so those two combined worked for me. Love all the small storylines flowing together. Didnt feel lost.

Satiates the appetite, but a poor stand-alone book.
As an Arrow fan I can really only rate this middle-of-the-road. It's actually been a while since I watched the complete first season, and I think that's why I had trouble deciphering who some characters were, and what exactly was going on - and if I was having trouble, I can't imagine someone who doesn't watch Arrow reading this - I don't think they'd make heads or tails of it.The book collects 19 issues (18 issues and a Free Comic Book Day prologue) and there's no book-long story (I guess the season one arc is the story), and many chapters jump around from character to character, and while it was nice to finally see the background on some characters, like Diggle and Helena, I found myself wondering "Wait a minute, I thought this was 'Arrow'?"However - this is written by the same guys who have done the show, so chances of anything revealed in later seasons contradicting this book is limited. What would have been of use, is instead of collecting all the pages as if they were one story with multiple chapters, each chapter should have had the episode it links to, for clarification's sake. Otherwise, you find yourself focusing on specific episodes you watched ages ago, instead of enjoying the book. Also, there could have been more information given in speech bubbles or decriptor boxes.I can't recommend this to anyone who is green to Arrow (see what I did there?) but if you're planning on binge-watching season one (which I highly recommend doing!) then have this to the side to read chapters in between episodes. You might enjoy it more than I did, otherwise it's really only worth buying for brand loyalty. I hope volume 2 has its own story to make every coherent, instead of the Frankenstein nature of how this turned out.Of note however are the first six issues of covers at the back (sans title etc), as well as concept art and photos of costumes, which were a nice little extra. Not many pages worth though. It was nice to look at season one from a different perspective, but this was disappointing.

Great to go along with the show
I purchased this as a gift for my husband, but a little bit for me too. We watch the TV show & really enjoy it and have been reading more comics & graphic novels lately. This was a great addition & filler-inner to the show, we ended up reading it during the break between seasons. It told some different stories & gave some different perspectives from the show, but the stories fit with the characters we have come to know and love. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Arrow the show, or anyone interested in Green Arrow the character. I fall into both categories & loved it.

Great Comic From DC
The only thing I will say is that it needs to be on a big screen when you open it, on a small screen it is difficult to read. But the story and the illustrations of the story are all up to the amazing standard of DC. I loved the book and will read it many times just like I did when I was a kid and bought Arrow comic books. I think I am going to try the hard copy as well. These are just amazing.

Good book
It was great to see what happened to starling city when Oliver was on the island. It was also great to see him go other places to help people. It was a great addition to the franchise. I recommend it to everyone who loves the show and the character.

Kinda good
It was not what I expected, I thought it would have been an actual book and not a comic book.

The Something Else
It's exactly what I wanted, extra adventures with Olly Pop and his friends. The artwork is astounding and the storyline fits in well with the series. I'm so glad I found this

Beyond the Hood
This is a decent collection of short stories from the Arrow universe, there are 19 in all (if you include the prologue) that add extra adventures for the hood but also add extra back story and info for some characters. The stand alone Arrow stories are a mixed bag, all the stories are only about 5 or 6 pages so no real focus can really be brought to them also they do seem to be ideas that they couldn't film, a couple one on a train on one in a football stadium stand out as maybe being episode ideas if they had had an unlimited budget, but others where he travels to Moscow and China just seem stupid, surely he would have been missed if he kept leaving the country. The stories with extra back story are better, if you wanted to know how the Huntress learned to fight, How China White became a Triad or learn a bit more about Dig's army life this is the place, these are the best sections of the collection they don't really teach you anything that shock you but they are little snippets that let you know some of the characters better. So overall a good solid collection for fans (if you don't like Arrow you are unlikely to like this at all, actually if you hate Arrow why are you even looking at it?) the involvement of the series producers is nice , even if it's only for a couple of the stories, but even better art by Mike Grell for a few of the stories, I know it's not much but to even have Grell involved in Green Arrow again in any way is a bonus.

An interesting collection
This book is good, and explores little stories that were never explained in the TV show and gives more background for the characters. However, it does feel a little chaotic and I can't help thinking this book would have been better if it had been like most other comics, just had one story split over how many issues it needs. Still it's a good book but perhaps it is for Arrow fans only.

I love it!!
If you are a fan of the TV show, you need to read this. All the unknown stories not told in the show are told in this graphic novel. Another one for the Green Arrow collection. I recieved it in very good condition & it arrived on time.
