Lid Support Hinge, 2 Packs Folding Support Hinge Lid Stay with Soft Close, Lid Lift Up Stay Buffer Damper for Kicthen Wardrobe Cabinets Door Toy Box

I bought this to replace the rusty basic support hinge on my aquarium (wooden) cover. This was easy to attach. Before affixing it, we had to think it thru' first to make sure the actual mechanism is in the way of the lid closing - that was all. The hinge is spring loaded for a soft close and tho' the lid is heavy and long, I only needed to use one of these at one end to do the job.

I tried these everyway possible and when it get to the last several inches it slams shut. Not good for a child toy box.

I like the design and they seem better than the flimsy things I get from the big box home improvement store.However, the instructions are very small. All the measurements are in millimeters. While not the end of the world, made life a little tough for this American who only has tools in English measurements.The instructions are so small it is hard to figure out the proper measurements. Had to do a little trial and error.EDIT: The measurements in the instructions may have worked for the people who made it, but not for me. I ended up trying three different positions before it worked right. I would play around on a mock-up before attaching these to your finished piece. I now have several holes that look horrible.

First time using this style. Was a little confusing on the install

First off, these aren't very soft close. These will stay open at any angle, but they do slam shut the last little bit when you close them.Another detail that's easy to miss from the listing - while you can mount these on either the right or left side, due to the design where the spring mechanism sticks out to the side, if you were to mount these on the right and left side of the same cabinet, they will not be symmetrical. I originally chose these because I liked the curving design, but unfortunately if you try to mount on both sides, one side will curve inwards while the other side curves outwards - see the last photo on the detail page. This might not be a big deal for your application, but in my case this looked out of place.

Got two right sided ones. I needed a pair. Not two of the same.
