Hyperkin RetroN 2 HD Gaming Console for NES/SNES/SFC with Controllers

First of all, this comment is for playing games in Japan. It is different from the evaluation in the United States, so please use it as a reference only. I used "FC COMBO HDMI made by Columbus Circle" sold in Japan. I was playing Famicom and Super Famicom, but it broke. I don't use it because I have an original machine, but this FC COMBO was mainly used by my family and friends in the living room. I immediately searched for the same thing, but I could not find it in Japan, but I could find it in the United States far away. Hyperkin's products are very luxurious! Japanese consoles imitate old ones and look very cheap. Hyperkin's products are precisely made. The "H mark" on the right side of the front glows blue, and the atmosphere is very good. The body is covered with transparent skin, proving that there is no omission in the contents. The weight is heavier than the original machine, and it does not move easily during play. You don't have to freeze when you get excited! The appeal of this console is that it supports HDMI. To use it in Japan, you need a "Japanese conversion adapter for Famicom" in the NES slot. (For FC To NES 60 Pin To 72 Pin Game card cartridge Adapter Converter) The only unfortunate part is that you have to use different controllers for each NES and SNES game. It's very annoying that you can't play in common with one controller. Other than that, I like it very much.

Update: after a month, the RetroN 2 HD stopped outputting any kind of signal via HDMI. No sound, no picture, no matter how many cables or ports are tried. This is actually a replacement unit for the first RetroN 2 that arrived in two pieces. Somehow, the casing had been jolted so hard, the bottom plate had torn all of the screws out of the upper cover, plastic threading and all. How does a console even make it into a box in that condition? So this time I'll be taking my money back. This is the last Hyperkin product I'll be buying. It's funny, I hear from YouTube influencers pretty frequently that Hyperkin is frustrated with their reputation as junk peddlers, yet they do nothing to change that perception. Horrible QC.

Works perfectly. Controller is better than the original NES controller. And you can choose between original screen size, or full widescreen. Widescreen can look a bit weird, but is nice to have. Color and sound is on point. Worth every penny.

Update for 2022/2023: Still using it, got the hd3 too. Still great. For the average person looking for a super nintendo on a flat panel t.v. this system is great. The nes side not so much. It works but has noticible input latency. The snes doesn't have that input latency problem. I noticed too that the controller feels improved over the gray scout controller the buttons are softer and feel extremely nice. My new favorite controller. I have the super nt as well and sometimes actually prefer playing on this unit cause I like the saturated colors. Image is sharp but not too sharp like an emulator. More like a real system on an old t.v. I have also tried it on my c.r.t. and though it works fine there is a slight flckering as if it's interlaced. If you are looking for a crt replacement system I would go with the superboy sfc. It looks and plays as good if not better then a real unit. The retron 2 hd is also not an emulator system like the retron 5. It's a clone system.

Llegó una semana antes de lo esperado, excelente tiempo de entrega. Todo venía bien empacado y en excelente estado. Compramos tres juegos de NES muy viejos y después de hacerles limpieza leyeron sin problema, hemos jugado casi dos días seguido usando el HDMI con mi hijo y todo funciona sin problema. Estamos pendientes de conseguir juegos de SNES para probar el otro puerto y el control.

NES has the usual sound AND color issues commonly found on clone hardware. Bummer. SNES works great but video and audio seem to desync after a while on the HDMI output run through my capture card. Not sure if this is likely going to happen on a TV or not, but I don't see why the experience would be any different. It works, it has HDMI output and composite output, but it's not a good replacement for real hardware.

I had high Hope's for this product but it falls short. If you want to play your old Nes games best bet is to play them on original equipment. I have several games that will not work on this system. My zapper games just will not work correctly with this system, I have a crt tv and a.v. cables and nothing. The original system works just fine. Duck hunt, hogans alley, gotcha, operation wolf do not work. Tetris will not load, Neither will dragon warrior, bad dudes or dino riki. I thought my games were bad but it is this system that's bad. Hyperkin needs to include a list of games that will not work on this system or make a system that works. Also the games are hard to get in and out of the connector, talk about death grip I thought one of the games broke when I placed it in this dumpster fire of a system. Stay away from this thing!

La consola todo bien lo estuve probando ambos funciona perfecto para SNES funciona los juegos originales y los cartuchos everdrive baratos y caros y para NES también funciona los originales y los cartuchos de Famicom originales y multijuegos requiere adaptador y los everdrive NES funciona bien los roms incluyendo las partidas guardadas lo malo no funciona los roms de Famicom disk system solo sale logo de Nintendo con error de batería ni tampoco se puede guardar ni cargar partida presionando los dos botones de control solo funciona la consola original no conozco los detalles sí funciona perfecto para los everdrive Famicom y también los roms mi opinión lo recomiendo
