Rowenta Professional Full Size Steamer for Clothes with Screen 65 Inches 1.3 Liter Capacity 1700 Watts Ironing, Fabric Steamer, Garment Steamer, Adjustable IS8440

My old steamer finally died after about 10 years. It was fine, and I would have been fine replacing it with something similar. I decided to do some research and settled on this Rowenta unit that cost 2x what my old one cost. I figured I use the steamer all the time and my last one lasted 10 years. It isn't hard to make up $50-$100 of value over 10 years. My expectations were much higher because of the price but it completely delivered. My clothes took about half as long to steam as before. I don't know what is actually different but it seems like this does higher quality steam or something. The steam just loosens things out better and quicker than my old unit did. The best part of this, and the feature really worth paying for IMO, is the screen. It makes is so easy to steam when you have a good support behind your garment. I really doubt I'll ever use an iron again now. It makes it faster and I don't think I could have even gotten my clothes this good with my old steamer.

The Rowena IS8440 Steamer has proven to be a massive letdown. One of the worst purchases I have made on Amazon. Although its 1700-watt heating element might appear to be a selling point, it contributes to the device's most glaring issue. The steamer becomes excessively hot, posing a severe risk of burning your fingers, even when wearing a hardware glove. This makes it nearly impossible to use without the risk of injury, which is unacceptable. Additionally, the water tank does not live up to its advertised longevity. I found myself having to refill it several times just to steam a handful of garments, making the process both frustrating and time-consuming. For instance, I had to replenish the tank thrice to steam merely seven to ten items, including wool sweaters and suits. This performance is far from what I anticipated from a high-end steamer, and using a traditional iron would have been a better choice. The seller should be ashamed to offer such a flawed steamer. I would return it, but the return window has unfortunately closed. I must warn potential customers to steer clear of this product. Its only redeeming feature is the screen that indicates the temperature and signals when the water level is low. However, this does not compensate for the steep price and the inconvenience it causes. I strongly advise against purchasing this steamer if you seek a reliable and efficient garment steamer. STAY AWAY!

I was looking to replace my previous Rowenta stand up steamer which lasted just about 10 years even though I had no clue how to maintain it. I foolishly tried 2 no-name brands thinking they could not be that much different for a more cost-effective price. I learned the hard way that once you use a Rowenta steamer, there is no going back. Not only does this machine heat up at the process rate, but the power of the steam stays consistent through use. I am able to steam multiple garments in the time that it took me to steam one garment with other "brands." It is also very sleek and clean looking. I don't mind keeping it up and assembled. The screen is an added bonus. Now that I know how to clean it properly I am hoping this one lasts me even longer.

I love that it really removes the wrinkles from the clothes quickly, but it just leaks water from the bottom.

I am a serious Rowenta fan and this steamer did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it is b better because it's lighter!

Update: Ended up keeping the steamer. I started a new job and needed to keep it. Fast forward to today the heating element is FRIED! From what I can see there was a leak on the rubber seal on the element that keeps the water from the cables that delivers power to it. It calcified and prasumably overheated. NOT WORTH THE PRICE. For the amout of problems Ive had since delivered. Original: I am writing this review the day I received the item. I was looking forward to this steamer. I needed it for work. White collard shirts are a part of my uniform. When it arrived I immediately unboxed it. As I was putting it together I took off the water tank to fill it up. I noticed the residue right away. I cant tell if its bug residue or sediment of some kind. Whomever had it before me would have had heavily used it with dirty water. I'm just glad I didn't need to use it right away for work or I wouldn't have had the time to clean all the gunk out. Which I shouldn't have had too! Took me about an hour to flush it out using the anti-calc procedure in the instruction manual. I did 2 cycles of the that. The anti-calc light was not on either time so that's the only thing I did that's not in the manual. I need it for work so I wont be returning it like a normal person would. Ill just leave this review as a warning with pictures. I will be using it heavily for my work uniform. The moment it stains my clothes; after it had just properly cleaned, I WILL TOSS IT! Horrible first impression. Other than that whole initial mess the steam comes nicely. Even and hot. No drips of anywhere. It makes a few noises here and the but I figure its just doing its thing. Really disappointed I received a used product. It could have at least been properly inspected and cleaned before it was re-packaged!

For a steamer of this price range, I did not expect it to 'spit' water. Because of uneven heating cycles, it often leaks water through the sponge head attachment on clothes. The only good thing I found was that you can control the sputter to a degree by backing down the steam release on the handle. The screen portion is not useful and is quite tenuous to attach. Rowenta may have licensed this crap, but I doubt they made it.

I purchased the Rowenta IS8440 professional steamer about 18 months ago based on its strong reputation. I took excellent care of the unit: I used filtered water, descaled it regularly according to the manual, and kept the exterior clean. Recently, the unit completely stopped working. No steam is produced, and there is no sound from the pump or heating element. Since the 1-year warranty had just expired, I decided to inspect the interior to see if it was a simple fix. What I found was shocking: The main circuit board (PCB) was covered in rust and heavy limescale buildup. The internal design places sensitive electronics and wiring extremely close to the mechanical water components. It appears that internal moisture or a small leak (which shouldn't happen in a "Professional" grade unit) led to total oxidation of the connections. It is disappointing that a premium brand like Rowenta has such a vulnerable internal layout. If you buy this, be aware that even perfect maintenance might not save the electronics from internal corrosion over time. I am hoping Rowenta will stand by their product and offer a resolution for this clear design issue. Absolutely not recommended !

Es una buena plancha si es que no sabes usar una convencional. La verdad es sencilla de usar y las prendas quedan bien. Hay que rwcalcar que el vapor elimina olores, incluso el del suavizante, lo cual puede ser un pro o un contra, dependiendo de cada quién. Lo malo es que no viene con el soporte plegable para que la ropa quede estable y sea más sencillo planchar, no tener que estar sosteniendo la prenda. Ocupa un espcio considerable, no la considero muy fácil de guardar; pero si te sonra espacio, te agradará lo sencillo que hace el planchado.

The assembly instructions are not great but it was easy enough to figure out anyway. This unit seems a bit more flimsy than the previous model that I had but it does steam really well. I am happy with it, I just think for the price it could have been made a bit better.

I purchased the Rowenta Pro Style Care Garment Steamer (IS8440) in February 2024, expecting a premium product from a reputed brand. Initially, it worked well, but within 10 months, it completely stopped generating steam. Despite following all care instructions and using it sparingly, the steamer failed prematurely. For a product at this price point, I expected durability and reliability, but this was a letdown. To make matters worse, finding support or replacement options has been frustrating. I cannot recommend this steamer to anyone who values longevity in their purchases. Very disappointed with Rowenta.
