Tuffy Jeep YJ Security Glove Box

Received the glove box. No way it was going to get bolted up to my dash without causing damage to my dash pad. After 2 hours of pontification I decided I needed to cut the box off the face plate and re-weld it 3/16 of an inch higher on the face plate. Along with that the attachment of the "L" brackets is poorly designed. The "L" brackets should have 1/8th to 3/16 inch stand off's to bolt up to the back face of the dash squarely. Then of course that puts the holes in the box where they bolt up to the "L" brackets in the wrong place. Of course that caused damage to the power coating so it caused me to repaint the glove box with a Spice color to match my interior. Because you cannot order the glove box in spice like you can the Tuffy center console. I will give the security of the box a 5 star rating. The fact that I had to redesign it gets a 2 star rating. My satisfaction with the end product after my 2 hours of rework and repainting is 5 stars.

For everyone who owns a Wrangler already knows, there's no place to secure anything in the Wrangler when you are out and about. The Tuffy Security Glove Box gives you a small area you can put things such as paperwork, registration, an IPod, the faceplate to your stereo, that is adequately secured.Keep in mind it is a small area, but it is secured and will still be there when you return to your vehicle. I give this one 5 stars.

Had a hard time getting mounting screws to line up but satisfied now that it’s installed

Wish the door was more flush with the face.

Nice edition to my 95 YJ. Lock works great, nice to be able to secure some item in.
