I want to use this to keep my laptop safe when sailing. While I do not expect it to get dunked, exactly how waterproof is it?

Hey, does this case work for the new 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina display?

NO, absolutely not, the only way it fits is if you add about a 1" pice of foam. There is a version of this case that comes with a peel away foam insert that will allow the 15" retina macbook pro to fit snugly in the case. I am not sure but I think it ends in BC or something versus the CC of this case. I have this 1095CC case and a retina 15" macbook, the only way it fits without bouncing around all over inside the case is with a foam pies that works well enough to keep it from knocking around inside.

How watertight is this case?

It close pretty tight on the front of the case. But nos so well on the sides. I can say that it is water-splash proof but not submergible. If the design had 2 more clips on the sides, it would be A LOT more waterproof...

What are dimensions of individual pick-pluck cubes? How many cubes in each direction? Is there more than one layer so that depth can be adjusted in different places?

Each cube is about 1cm, in a grid of 23x17. There is a second non-cubed layer below, and below that is the hard plastic bottom.
