Metabo WEV15-125 HT Lock-On 13.5 Amp 2,800-9,600 rpm Angle Grinder with Electronics and High Torque, 4.5"/5"

I have a Makita battery powered angle grinder and it’s OK for light work but I wanted a beast of an angle grinder. That required an AC/corded model. I like the power of this grinder already, it’s a bull dog. It has an industrial look and feels solid in my hands even if it is a bit heavy. I’m a big guy, an extra pound of weight means better quality to me. I looked at every model online, in person and read online ratings for over a week. I don’t own any Metabo so I decided to give this Metabo model a try. I like the 5 inch disk size, gives more cutting versatility. The Metabo is heavy duty, has a lot of power, simple disk changes with a spammer, an arbor lock to assist disk changes, dial variable speed and a locking switch, not a paddle trigger. I avoided the grinders with the patented quick change technology that requires use of OEM disks at high prices. I have a paddle trigger on another tool and with the safety lever it’s annoying. Plain locking switch for me. I bought this particular Metabo from Amazon Sales (formerly Amazon Warehouse). The box was beat up and the grinder had a few light blemishes but it saved me $45 over new plus some Amazon points and I got this grinder for about $120 all in - perfect. I grind a lot of stainless steel, rusted bolts and nuts and rod stock using cutoff wheels, including diamond and vitrified disks. Also in the mix are cup and flat knot wire wheels for clean up and prep work. I clean my gas grill grates with a knotted cup wheel and it works great! Battery grinders just tap out too easily and I wanted a tool not made in China. Metabo is German, the gears are high speed steel and this grinder is heavy but it’s built like a tank. Lots of work coming up for a full audition!

I want to go out on a limb here and say that I have no idea how horrible my previous angle grinder was! I was ignorant to how bad my Skil angle grinder was! I immediately threw it in the trash after receiving this and making a few cuts. This thing cuts like butter! It's so smooth it doesn't jitter all around. It doesn't shatter discs! Or at least I haven't shattered one yet. I thought shattering discs was normal for angle grinders. I love the features of the guard that can be rotated without a tool. And I especially love the variable speed! It's a bit on the heavy end, but honestly, the way it cuts, I totally can overlook how heavy it is.

I work in an industrial fabrication shop and this thing works Perfect. Worth the money 100%. Durable , plenty of power and you can run it for hours and it won’t bog down

For the price I consider this Metabo grinder as the best value because of 13.5 amp motor, variable speed and higher torque 9600 rpm...Plus even though it's sold as a 5" grinder it has the power to handle 6" wheels...In fact the 6" Metabo grinder without variable speed costs $50 more has the same motor and gearbox as the WEV15-125 HT...Go figure... I recently compared this Metabo to the Makita GA4542C...While the Makita is a fine grinder as a tradesman I consider the Metabo a superior grinder, except the Makita seems to have slightly less vibration...But the Metabo has clearly more torque power and frankly is designed more for the everyday use of a tradesman...Such design as the air inlet on the back of the Metabo is preferred, rather than the side like the Makita which allows dirt and grime to easily enter the motor from dirty hands and gloves...BTW, welders always have dirty gloves filled with oily grime...Extra available accessories like the multi position handle bracket, snap on cutting guard and quick disc removal system make the Metabo more appealing as well... The Metabo grinders seem to be rated the best Worldwide by Tradesmen and this WEV15-125 HT certainly maintains that rating... UPDATE: 12-4-18 Price was $184.99 when I wrote the review...Now it's $158.99 on Amazon Prime..Even better value at $75 cheaper than the 6" non variable speed version... kd

I bought this for the variable speed feature and normally go with another top brand but wanted to compare. Within a month the barometer dial broke off and it only had full speed. It was held in place by a 1/16 in h plastic pin!! I'm sticking with my Makita.

I like this grinder a lot. It’s super tough. It’s pretty simple to swap out discs, just make sure you don’t misplace the specialty wrench! This being a corded tool has never bothered me, because the shop I typically use it in has outlets near all of the work benches.

This grinder with variable speed is a game changer. It out performs any other grinder I've ever used. This is the third one I've bought.

Heavy duty great quality!!!

Lower noise and vibration levels than all those I used in my shop as well as three manufacturing locations I worked at vibration level is so low that the disc nut does not significantly tighten by itself as with other angle grinders.

The real cost is not as advertised, and that warning is in the digital "fine print" on the sellers page. The advertised cost is 298.69 plus 48.77 delivery. On the sellers (not the products) page- "Canadian Customers are responsible for all duties and taxes." True. Via UPS = $106.46 brokerage fee. 30.2 % MORE than the advertised TOTAL cost, including delivery. Not including delivery, the brokerage fee is almost 35%. It's a very good tool. In fact, a GREAT tool. Why not be up front and clearly display its actual cost, including brokerage fees? We all know good tools cost more. And please, don't blame the government.

me mandaron el equipo equivocado, uno de menor precio y capacidad y encima al momento de la devolución yo cargue con los gastos de importación que esos no los recuperas, espero no volver a tener otra experiencia de este tipo por que si es así dejare de comprar en este portal
