This is awesome!
This thing is great! I have the iphone 14Pro. Clear photos. Extreme closeups. You literally have to be 2-4inches away from the object.

Does not work as advertised.
This absolutely does not work with an iPhone 14 Pro. I followed the setting instructions, turned off macro control. No matter what I did, the lens will not focus. I’m going to put this in the category of “looks expensive but is actually cheap garbage.

With Otterbox, works with small mod
I'm lowering my rating. I am very pleased with the lens quality. However, there are rubbery pads on the clip that are glued on with a gummy adhesive that is extremely heat sensitive. In only moderately warm conditions, the pads slid off the clip and left behind a sticky, gummy surface. I'm afraid that with time, this will transfer to the lens. The pads on the clip need to be glued on with a better adhesive. Original review: I've been wanting to try a Smartphone macro lens for some time, but couldn't find one that would work with an Otterbox case. I have an old iPhone 6 Plus, and taking the Otterbox case on and off isn't practical. I bought this since it said it could fit my phone. It does, with a caveat. While the clip can hold onto the phone case, the lens doesn't lie flush. I tried using packaging tape to hold the end of the clip down, but it wasn't strong enough. Then I tried a heavy-duty rubber band, which came with my produce. That does the job, and I can leave it on the phone for convenience. As with most macro lenses, the entire image will not be in focus. Most images will still need to be cropped, but I do this with most of my pictures anyway. I'm including some pictures taken with the lens. All were taken by hand. Often I just set the bottom of the phone on the ground and then leaned it toward the object being photographed. The largest spider is incredibly small, about the size of a small sewing-pin head. Behind her you can see a smaller animal, which I didn't even realize was there. It was the size of a pencil dot on a piece of paper. Another photo shows a spider alone. This tiny creature was bigger than a pencil dot, but still quite small -- an sixth of a pin head? A different picture shows a basil leaf, and one can even see the pores. Very happy with this purchase. As long as the clip hold up, I'm good.

Very good budget lens.
Ok so. If you want a budget lens. That has a decent range so you dont have to literally touch your target. Is easy to use. And takes great pictures. This does the job nicely. Its not the bottom of the barrel lens. Its more of a nice entry level into the macro world. The only con for me, is that the clip does not seem to have much strength. If you touch it with your finger when its on it may move a touch. But the generous area of good focus in the lens, makes that not really much of an issue at all. I messed it up multiple times and never lost focus or got any of the black in the picture. You will have to take off your phone case most likely. Im not sure if they make them but. If they made phone cases for phones. That had the screw on thing built into the back of the case that this type of lens uses to mount. You would not need the crappy clip. And you could just carry a tiny pocket pouch of lenses for whatever situation. Also if you're taking any kind of macro. You probably want some kind of tripod or stabalizer. Cant go wrong with this one. First time buying a macro lens? Buy this one. The attached image shows just how close you can get. If you zoom in on the image, you can see individual ink dots. So cool.

Great detail and clarity given the price.
For the price, I am not sure that you could get a better accessory for macro photography with the iPhone for the price. The photos that I have attached were taken with the iPhone 15 Pro Max using Halide with the APPLEPRORAW setting in macro mode with auto-focus. Other than the processing that would be done on the phone with those settings, I made no changes to the photos myself except for cropping. These photos were taken on the day I received the lens and in cloudy to partly-cloudy conditions. Note that the ants and smaller bees in these photos would be measured in cm not even mm. The brown-belted bumblebee is on swamp milkweed flowers, the furrow bees on purple cone flower and hawkweed (Heriacium sp.), and the ants on clustered mountain mint and lace-leaf coreopsis. The ones on the mountain mint were absolutely tiny. As you can see from the photos, the clarity and results it produced were great. I am just a guy with an iPhone and a large to medium sized native plant garden. I don't have any experience or training as a photographer let alone in macro photography. I am having an absolute ball taking photos and documenting the insects and plants in my garden and I am sure I'm already annoying my wife showing her every tiny little bug or new discovery about the plants. I have no idea, for example, that the tiny flowers on clustered mountain mint had small purple spots on them. If you enjoy taking pictures of small things with you phone, you will absolutely love using this lens. I am also not sure you can beat the price. I was a bit skeptical about using this but now I can't wait to try some other lenses. Do keep in mind that you will probably have to remove your case. I am not sure if they sell a phone case that is compatible or not.

I’m a nature photographer and I usually spend my hard earned cash on telephoto lenses to get closer to my subjects. I’m currently saving for a 600mm prime lens so I didn’t want to spend a grand on a mirrorless macro lens. I opted for this Apexel professional macro and paired it up with my old iPhone XR. It’s a perfect fit and the results are impressive - the detail, sharpness, colour rendition and bokeh are all there! I’m sure a devoted mirrorless macro lens would yield better results but for $40, I have zero complaints. I’ll continue to use this lens for my trout fly macro photography.
