LOUD but effective, as long as you have proper airflow!
PROS:- Insanely strong suction.- Covers a large area, good if you're covering a hold from a previous large unit.- Can take a reasonably bright bulb, and diffuses it nicely, so you can light a whole bathroom pretty well if you put the right bulb in it. Or, you can put a low-brightness bulb in there if it's just meant to be supplemental. The versatility is nice, and not something you'll get out of the units that have their own built-in LED panels.CONS:- This thing is LOUD. You can still have a conversation or listen to music over it - but people in adjacent rooms WILL hear it, at least in the background.- Like most strong fans, you'll need to clean regularly, as dust will quickly collect not only in the fan, but on the insight of the light cover.- Make absolutely sure the room has proper ventilation for airflow, whether that's an HVAC vent, or an open window, or a vent / gap under the door. Because of the fan's strong suction, it will essentially act like a vacuum, and create slight negative pressure in the room if it's not getting airflow from somewhere else to replace the air it's sucking out. Not only can you wear out the motor this way, but you won't get the full efficiency out of the fan. We had water streaks running down our walls after hot showers because the steam couldn't vent, so it just condensed. Once we shaved an inch off the bottom of the bathroom door, the problem was ALMOST gone - and opening a window essentially solves it.

More for new construction than replacement
Bought this to replace a former fan and it works well and has noise level we want for a rather centrally placed bathroom. Able to insert it fine in the prior space but then a big hiccough when could not figure out how to attach the final touch - the decorative grille!I contacted Broan and they confirmed that where the instructions somewhat cryptically finally point this out (when you are already done!), flush indeed means the round portion of the housing must be fully inset into the ceiling; not just "flush" up against it as we had accomplished I guess that specificity of "flush" is obvious to a contractor. In other words, you are supposed to cut a hole to accommodate the large circle of the unit, not just insert the square portion. Rather than completely undo what we had done, we eventually just coarsely awled some holes through the drywall (poked, really) where the supports for the grille are supposed to insert. Worked out fine eventually and looks great.SO, I suggest when buying a unit to first go online for that specific unit's installation manual and look into the particulars that way before purchasing.Broan was very responsive and here is their reply:"As you can see if Figures 6 & 7 on page 3 of the attached installation instructions, the hole in the ceiling should have been cut for the circle area of the fan, not the square. The round lip of the fan should be flush with the drywall. If there was a square hole cut and the round outer edge of the fan is underneath the drywall, then the unit was not installed correctly."

A well made fan/light combo, but a bit noisy.
An improvement over the previous model, but still quite noisy. Disappointed that the basic electrical/mechanical box was larger which required a completely “from scratch” installation. My installation is in the shower stall of a very small bathroom which probably exacerbates the noise level. I give it a B for design, an A for manufacturing, and an A+ for packaging. Would consider it for a future “new” installation.

Better Replacement for Old Fasco Bath Fan
No easy solution to replace existing 1960's Fasco bath fan. Ordered a Broan 696 assuming the Broan 14" x 8" housing would fit in existing 14x8 Fasco housing opening in bath ceiling. Nope.. The old Fasco mounted perpendicular to the ceiling joists with exhaust out the side. The Broan fans are designed to mount parallel to the ceiling joists, Could not mount in existing opening due to exhaust vent interference and would have required cutting the joist. While not a perfect fit the Broan 751 a better fit with some ceiling cutting and patching on the corners. It is noisy but does the job removing moisture.

No more water condensation running down my bathroom walls!
Our old fan, which was the same rating as this one for moisture removal, was failing badly in our kids' bathroom. My son likes to take long and very hot showers and the water would be running down the walls and we were starting to get mold growth on the walls and ceiling from it. I was certain that we needed a more powerful fan, but we decided to go with this one first because it fit the hole in the ceiling already and the more powerful models would have required making modifications to the ceiling. So glad we did this first! The fan works PERFECTLY. We just needed to replace our 14 year old one. There is not one drop of moisture in the small room now after the kids take showers. The previous model we had was exactly like this one except it had two light options--full power on and a nightlight level. My husband discovered that he could wire this a little differently and make the nightlight work in this model, even though it isn't advertised as having this option (and the model that had it was more expensive, so we were just going to do without it).

What I needed.
We needed a strong bathroom fan due to moisture damage in our attic. This fan works very well.

Install was pretty easy
Had to get in attic to install because of previous installation. Had to plan accordingly.

Noisy and wish it had better suction
Still seeing to much condensation on the ceiling. It’s loud in our bathroom.

Decent bathroom fan with light
Decent light and fan. Was replacing an existing bathroom fan/light and wasn’t simple to instal. If installing in a new build would be fine.Fan is fairly loud but I knew that with the other reviews I read.

Misleading listing
First and foremost, this is not a 3.5 Sones fan, when it arrived, it clearly stated on the box that it was a 5.0 Sones. The only reason why I didn't return this product is that it is pretty much the only circular fan that would fit in the opening of my old circular AirKing fan.
