i have used this countless times to easily replace snaps on my pontoon tarp. Works good.

I received the upgraded version and it works really really well. Much better than I anticipated after having read some of the reviews on here. I used it for approximately 30 snaps on my boat enclosure for my tower. First, I would use a small bit to drill bee fabric through right into where I needed the snap to be on the fiberglass. This would score the fiberglass so I knew exactly where the hole needed to be. Second, I would use the same drill bit to drill the fiberglass for a pilot hole. Third, I would screw the male end into the fiberglass. Fourth, I did not have an owl, so instead, I used a sharp punch to bore out the hole that is in the fabric. I usually try to get it to just about the size of the part of the snap that goes through the fabric. Fifth I put the snap through and then lined it up with the other part of the snap. Sixth, then I used the tool to press it together. It was really easy to do and I don't see a need to get that big fancy tool that cost over $150. Just got the job done and we'll go into my tool kit of random things. Good buy!

The snaps are low quality like most of the cheap thin Chinese snaps commonly sold on Amazon

Recently had a new cover made for my pontoon boat and when the marina installed the snaps they did a terrible job. Had about 15 snaps fall apart within two week. Bought this tool to fix the snaps myself. Kit came with tool and an assortment of snaps (female and male). Instructions could be a little better but it wasn't too hard to figure out how to use. Did a trial snap on a piece of scrap canvass so I could get the tool set to the correct clamping pressure. Did not have anything to punch the correct hole in the canvass prior to installing the snaps so I just used an awl, but if I were putting snaps onto something that was going to be a final product, I would buy whatever the correct hole punching tool is. Luckily the cover to my boat already had the holes punched in from the first attempt from the marina. Took me about 10 minutes to replace all the failed snaps and they work excellent. So glad I purchased this tool rather than taking the cover back to the marina. I will probably stock up on more snaps just in case any more fall apart.

Easy to use. I have replaced nearly 25 on an RV skirt, but 3 have broke off within 2 weeks. Maybe not the most sturdy but cheap enough to replace as needed.

This has saved me a lot of aggravation and works well. I like not having to go to the canvas shop to replace snaps.

I've been looking for a good quality tool for a good price. This is it. The tool allows enough leverage to affix the snaps and takes a little practice (very Little).The snaps are secured perfectly and you're off to the races. My use was for the soft top on my classic British car. I was so pleased that they all came out perfectly. Practice took me ( 1 ) piece. You'll see !Highly recommend.
