I live in the southwest where it's standard for the walls to be textured. Will this work on a textured wall that is not flat?

is it true "aluminum" foil or just made to look like it?

Truthfully, I think aluminum foil is a better product. This is foil like, tears easily and wrinkles way too much when applied. Not worthwhile for a backsplash or anything else.
