Does this knife come with a sheath? If so, what is the sheath made of?

Best bread knife ever. No it does not come with a sheath. We put ours in the knife block. If we take our knives anywhere we have a knife case (ergo chef carrying case) Do not put in dishwasher.

Is the blade width really 1 inch?

The height is probably around I inch. The width is like a standard knife maybe 1/16 inch or some such thing. haven't really tried to measure it.

why does blade not say made in germany? and other twin bread knife for over 100 does?

If purchased from a reliable source, it should have a 3-line stamp near the hilt saying “ZWILLING TWIN SIGNATURE, 30726-202 (8”) 12ZG22, MADE IN GERMANY,” together with the Twins logo. There is also a red Twins logo on the hilt. Other sources may provide unapproved copies / reproductions which do not have this authorized stamp. Mine does.
