Works for one egg or 12!!!

This item works perfectly, all you do is put this in a pot of cold water, add the eggs and turn on the flame and just watch the top turn white. It has marks of how well done you want the egg and when the white hits that mark, you remove the egg and it will be either extra runny, soft boiled or hard boiled. Great item and easy to work with.

Our first one was a pro we bought in 2022. It worked great for nearly 3 years until it delaminated at the layer where the thermally reactive and printed parts sit in the resin. Never worked right after that, since the heat rushed in via the split and turned the red white from the split across the whole egg within 30 seconds. So I bought another in March, this time though I got a two pack, to have a backup. Very first use my wife complained it was defective… she took her eggs out at the same place she always did, but they were way over cooked. I watched it closely the next time and saw the circle of white is uneven across the egg as it shrinks, one side is two ticks ahead of the other. This is something we never saw with the old one. I’m betting she was looking at the wrong side just by accident. After noticing this I was super careful with the next batch and pulled an egg when the first side hit the spot she likes and another when the other side hit it. Neither was right… one over one under. My eggs were the same, one over one under. The next time we did eggs I used the other one from the pair. It was almost as bad. I’ve done a couple batches since with both and they aren’t even that close to each other. Not sure what happened to the quality control in the three years between our orders, but basically it seems like you’ve got to totally recalibrate where everyone in the family likes their eggs cooked on each one of these!

This is an updated review after I exchanged the egg for a different one. The first one I had did not accurately work but customer service was amazing and helped me exchange it for a different one- and it works perfectly. I had seen so many positive reviews on this egg and thought I had to have it. I have a gas stove and the cooking time on hard boiled eggs to be the way we all like to eat them seems to vary depending on the day, weather, whatever. It was a pain to do the guess and check method all the time, and a waste of some eggs (which the dogs loved, haha). Using the egg timer took a lot of the guess work out. We like our eggs very hard boiled so I just leave them in a couple minutes past the time the egg turns all the way colored and they are perfect every time. I also found that if I do them in smaller batches (6-8) the timer is much more accurate! I'm so happy I gave it a second try because it is super helpful, not to mention cute! I would recommend this timer to anyone who cooks hard boiled eggs, it takes the guess work out of cooking so you get perfect eggs every time no matter what style of hard boiled eggs you prefer. The customer service is wonderful, emails were always responded to within 12-24 hours and they are easy to understand. They truly want to make sure you have a positive experience.

At last a reliable timer , a bit pricy but does an excellent job, I like soft boiled and this timer is great
