Great collection
While this 2 Disk collection is an excellent set of Vangelis songs, they are, essentially a selection of his "greatest hits" put together in this single double-disk set. The songs are gathered in an order that generates a pleasant listening experience, but does somewhat twist the timeline of his lengthy career. Disk one features Vangelis' more "musical" tunes including several pieces from the many movie scores he's created. Disk two features "ambient" pieces that run longer (on average) so there are fewer selections on the second disk. In total, there are 31 selections and it is an excellent set reflecting Vangelis lengthy career in music. (4 instead of 5 stars since this is just a presentation of previously existing pieces, that a "true fan" is likely to already have scattered through a reasonably comprehensive collection of Vangelis albums. (Although I bought the album simply to have a single collection pre-curated for me.) For someone who has not previously collected much from Vangelis' catalog, this is a great cross section of his work.

Good Vangelis, but not my favorite
It's a good CD but not what I expected, and it has a few good songs so I will keep it.

So complete!
I have an older Vangelis greatest hits album that is really good, but this one, has many many more songs that the first one. I also lacks some of the first album, so having both for Vangelis fans, could be a great idea. The melodies and songs are the best from him, if you want more, you will need to buy album by album and he has a lot! You will really enjoy his beautiful music with this CDs.

Vangelis and Jon Anderson of Yes cannot be bad!
I was not too familiar with any of Vangelis other work other than “Chariots of Fire” theme. I was surprised to hear Jon Anderson ofYes singing on some tracks. Takes awhile to get used to their style but was glad I ordered a greatest hits collection! Pretty goodvalue for 2 new CDs.

Excellent Revisit
It was like visiting old friends and some new ones thrown in. Just wish that "Antarctica" had been in the mix.

Composer for the latter 20th century
Vangelis' compositions could be heard at the movies, on the radio, on television and on the stage from the 1970s through 2000. His music combined modern techno and sweeping classical strains. This collection has it all and is a treat for those who enjoyed hearing his compositions.

Some of His Best
Vangelis has written an incredible amount of music and movie scores. There is just no way to capture all of them in one set. This collection does a great job of capturing many of the best. There are several haunting and unforgettable pieces from Bladerunner. The Conquest of Paradise them song and of course the matchless Chariots of Fire title. If you like Vangelis I do not think you will be disappointed with this 2 CD set.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.....
Fantastic range of music with the bonus of Jon Anderson included in some of the epic tracks. Lots of variation and even if you have never heard of Vangelis before you are sure to recognise some of the movie sound tracks from a range of block busters he compiled music for.The recording quality is superb and is really amazing to listen to with a pair of quality headphone on. The Blade Runner tracks are my favourites and Rachael's Song is beautiful and relaxing. The album is really good value for money and a great collection to have in your music library.

It's all Greek to me!
From the outset, I should warn the viewers at home that, when you first listen to this cracking album, you'll experience a LOT of deja ecouter moments, as in 'where have I heard THAT song before?' But fret not, you know more Vangelis than you think you do! Just to help you out, 'Pulstar' was used in the end credits of Johnny Ball's show 'Think Again', and 'Ask the mountains' in a washing machine advert! My favourite track is 'Rachel's Song', the first track on cd2, which is haunting and beautiful, and I swear it's been sampled on a club track, but, which one? Answers on a postcard please! Overall, it's a fabulous listening experience, and it's very difficult to determine which musical genre he belongs to. It's one of those rare albums where you don't skip tracks to get to the good stuff because, they're ALL good! Everyone should have this in their cd collection! So...what are you waiting for?

Devoted fan, not disapponted !
As a fan of Vangelis having first heard his music many years ago I wanted this CD to fill in the gaps of his compositions I haven't yet heard. Some of the tracks I already have but the others go on my must have list. The haunting 'Rachel's Song' and the dramatic 'Conquest of Paradise' are all here, as are some of the older very successful songs in partnership with Jon Anderson. This is a good introduction to anyone just catching on to Vangelis and will encourage them to further enjoy this gifted composer.

A Child of Aphrodite: A musical legend!
Aphrodit's Child, Jon Anderson to name a view acts Vangelis worked in/with. He is one of the best composers of the last 50 years. Musical talent all over! This is a great compilation of his work! My advise: Buy it, listen to it, enjoy it! No rain, no tears, just great music.
