Incredible Aquarium Heater Controller
This heater controller is an excellent choice. I purchased it a few months ago to control my Eheim Thermocontrol e50, and I can confidently say that it has been trouble-free. Its WiFi connectivity has been a lifesaver when I’m not home but want to check on my tank’s temperature. I’ve also tested the alarms for too cold and too hot using ice and hot water, and both alarms are audible from the unit and my phone. They’re both very effective at grabbing your attention. Additionally, I’ve tested its durability, and it’s proven to be incredibly long-lasting. The value for money is also exceptional. It’s the perfect fit for my tank and has done an excellent job of keeping it between 80.9°F and 82.1°F.

Great product, reliable and accurate
Very good and reliable product. I used it on my aquarium to control the temperature. Two heaters connected to it. Application on your phone is very professional and will alert you if something is wrong depending of your settings. I will recommend this product to anyone who want to have extra security layers when using Heaters on aquariums.

Resolved all of my fish tank heating woes
I’ve had issues with fish tank heaters failing - or worse - getting stuck on. Like many others, this has almost resulted in fish death. Luckily, I’ve caught it the few times it’s happened to me before fish were lost. After the last time this happened a few months ago, I decided to add an upstream heater control, and found this one quickly as it had fantastic reviews. I like the redundant heat probes with failsafe operation, the 0.1° incremental control, and the Wi-Fi control is really what sold me. It includes a detailed history log so you can go back and see what’s going on with your fish tank over days and weeks. The temperature logging seemed like a neat feature, however, it was really a big hit with me once I got it. It immediately proved its value. I recently installed a new air conditioner in my room, which has allowed me to keep the room at a constant cooler temperature year-round. Previously, I had issues with ick, which I traced back to wildly fluctuating FishTank temperatures due to wild fluctuations in room temperature. So I would keep the fish tank around 80° so it would maintain that temperature when my room would get hotter on hot days. Now, my room stays closer to 74° year round. I was able to balance this new comfortable room temperature with a very comfortable Fishtank temperature, with minimal use of the heaters. I was able to set the unit’s high and low triggerpoints very precisely using the log to avoid inefficient heater use. I settled on 74.5 on the low end and 75.0 on the high-end. The heaters only crank on if I decide to make my room really cold for a while. I know I could never get this type of precision with the old style heater control, and having the temperature log charts is what allowed it to be so easy. So, the Fish are happy, and I’m obviously using less power needlessly driving the heaters. I read a few reviews where people were trying to use this unit strictly as a failsafe for a runaway temperature condition (having the heater itself control the temperature, and hoping this unit would simply turn it off in a runaway condition). This unit and its parameters and alarms are not designed for that. I use it by cranking my heaters up to around 80° - a temperature my tank should never see. Then I let this temperature controller handle it at a more reasonable temperature of 74 to 75°. So even if this unit was to fail “on” somehow (basically impossible), the upstream heaters would still only have a potential to heat up the tank to 80° until their own thermostats would trip off. So it’s basically a triple failsafe at that point. I’m using this with the jinvoo smart app. I think there are a few other apps it will work with. But it paired up right away, and I have many other Jinvoo smart devices, including some of my Fishtank lights, on the same app (on a separate vlan of course!). Last point others have also hit on, make sure the two temperature probes are located close to each other. The point of them is to be redundant at the same point of reference. So if you spread them apart and have two different temperature readings it will assume a problem and halt operation. This little guy is pretty cool, and one of the most practical smart devices in my setup.

Accurate temperature controlls
Works perfectly. It takes several tries but it does connect to wifi. I keep a fan plugged in. Works great to cool my aquarium to the desired temperature. The led is easy to read. Fan turns off when it reaches the cool temp setting and turns on soon enough to keep the tank within 0.3 degrees of the high temperature. I am pleased with the purchase and would buy again.

Very close to being 5 stars, but has a giant flaw
This unit is well made. The app is easy enough to use. That being said, it has one giant flaw: Continuous heating mode CANNOT be turned off. Why this is an issue: If you have a inline heater that already controls the temperature, you're using this as a passive monitor and to track any major temperature changes. This unit is set up to be the active controller, which is great if your heater doesn't already do that. I want to use this as a backup so I have 2 fail safes in my Aquarium, not a active controller. The issue lies in if your heater accurately controls the temperature, and you never hit the set max temperature set by the Ink Bird. The Ink Bird think that your heater is on continuously, and will set off an alarm after how many hours you set that alarm to (max of 72.) When this happens, it shuts off the heater completely until you address the issue, which is ridiculous. In other words, the Ink Bird demands to control the temperature which should be an option, not a default.

reliable quality
the Inkbird is the well known go to for reef keepers everywhere and there is a reason why reliability no issues so far around a year later when i walk by my tank or glance over i know exactly what the water temp is and that is reassuring

No iPhone alert. Phone pairing difficult. Can't turn off continuous heat alarm.
When I first got this, iPhone alerts from the app did work, but now, as many others are reporting, it does not. You will not get a notification on your phone if temp is above or below your set alarm levels. So if you're not at home to hear the unit beeping, you will have to manually open the app to see if your temp is in range. The phone alert was the main reason for me to get the wifi version, so this unit now has very little value over a non-wifi one. App pairing is also very difficult - Inkbird's instructions are incorrect and inconsistent about how to factory reset and how to get into wifi pairing mode. Every time I've tried to set this up, it took many rounds of trial and error to finally get it to work. And over the 1 year that I've been using it, I have had it drop off from wifi about 3 or 4 times now and would only reconnect after power cycling it. Heating control continued to work okay, just no connectivity to phone app. I now have mine connected to a wifi smart plug, so if I'm away and phone app can't connect to the inkbird, I can remotely cycle power to it. Also, as others have reported, the fact that there is no way to turn OFF the alarm for continuous heating is a draw back. And looks like you're unlikely to get help from InkBird support. If you don't use the wifi functionality, then it is a fairly decent temp controller for an aquarium. I had to adjust the temp calibration on mine using a high quality reference digital thermometer and even with the calibration adjustment, it's not super accurate, but it does seem to stay accurate within 1 degree F. Mostly, but not always, my temp is kept within 1 degree F fluctuation. For now, I will probably continue to use it as the actual heater controller - I have not yet had any failures on it controlling the heaters, but will need to find something else to monitor temps and alert my phone. I may buy InkBird controllers again - I've had others as well and they seem to do a decent job of temp control, but will assume they will be used non-wifi and without phone app.

Essential aquarium equipment - if you like your fish alive :-D
I have 5 of these now, the last one being added to my 15g brine shrimp culture after the heater killed a very dense population over night. I'm just not going to have an aquarium, or culture that uses a heater without a monitor on it. It is so easy to use, just look at my phone and know the temperature, alarms go off faithfully if there is a problem, I have yet to have one fail. I even have one on my saltwater drum so I know if the temperature is good for a water change. I love the wi-fi feature, but also the bold red digital readout is easy to read in most any lighting condition. In addition to alarms on my phone, it has an audible alarm anyway.
