Will it fit a 50" tv?

The top is 47 1/2 inches long and curves at the front edges to 40 inches where the feet of my 40 inch tv sits I think that it would depend on the legs or base of your 50 inch , but feel doubtful that it would be a secure fit. I think a larger stand is needed.

I have a big bed if I lay down will I be able to see the television?

No it's way too low to watch from the bed.

What are the dimensions for the middle shelf? I need to know how tall of a receiver would fit that space.
