Does this lunch box really retail for $79.99? Is it made out of sterling silver?

I find that most parents purchase lunchboxes every year because they buy cheap. I bought Planetboxes when my kids started kindergarten. My oldest is in 10 th grade and still using the same boxes. That first year, I bought one Rover. The second year, I bought one more Rover and 2 Launches because I decided they were great for the whole family for hiking, skiing, and road trips. When we go skiing, lunches at the lodge are $$$$$$. I feel like I have saved a ton of money on ski lunches alone. The boxes look exactly like when I purchased them... no warping, staining... nothing. I am bummed they no longer sell the glass container that used to come with the Launch. One of ours was dropped and broke. It was nice to be able to pack chili in and heat up in a microwave later. Maybe they will offer them again someday🤷🏻♀️ My kids pack their own lunches. I always make extras when I cook so the kids can pack leftovers. Last night when we ate dinner, the kids got their lunchboxes out before they ate and quickly packed chow mein and orange chicken and veggies in their boxes and put them in the fridge so lunch would be ready this morning to take. The Rover is plenty if packed well. Use every space! The Launch is great for big appetites or if you prefer to pack a big salad. You can pack a very big salad in the larger compartment. Those extra containers can hold more good and fit nicely in the outside pocket of the carriers which gives even more room for lunch stuff or can fit a snack. One tip... if you want to pack cut fruit or tomato slices, I slice them in the morning before I leave and set the fruit or tomatoes on a tea towel or paper towel and leave them there while I eat breakfast or pack the rest of lunch or whatever. The towel will absorb excess liquid. 20 minutes is sufficient. Then just pack the fruit or tomatoes as usual. If you don't want to do this step, make sure they are in a closed container to prevent leaks. It has been a great investment for us.

Can you put wet items in a compartment (i.e. cantaloupe, other fruits) and not have it leak in into another compartment (i.e with bread)?

PlanetBox is designed to keep foods from “touching each other.” When you close your PlanetBox, the top and the bottom meet so that foods will not co-mingle, even when carried and stored on its side. PlanetBox is not designed to be leak proof. The lunchbox itself is not air tight and it is not designed to hold wet, messy foods like yogurt, dips, and applesauce. We created the Big, Little and Tall Dippers to use for foods such as these. For the larger Launch Box, we also created the glass Satellite Dish. Here is some information about how to pack messy foods such as fruits: When packing fruits, the majority work just fine packed directly in your PlanetBox. In our months of testing we have found that most cut up fruits will not create enough juice for there to be any spilling. However, some fruits can be rather juicy – especially melons and citrus. We have found that if you cut and pack these fruits the night before, they can create a lot of juice that can leak if put directly in the PlanetBox. Therefore, we recommend cutting and packing these fruits in the morning (they make a lot less juice that way), or, you can blot the fruit in the morning with a towel to absorb the extra juice. You can also pack them in the Big or Little Dipper (the Rover only), Tall Dipper (Launch or Shuttle only) or the Satellite Dish (the Launch only).

What grade of stainless steel is the box made of, 18/8, 18/10, 18/0?

We use high quality 18/8 (300 SS) and 18/0 (400 SS) for our stainless steel products. We have chosen 300 series stainless steel for dippers and the tray of our lunchbox and 400 series for the lid.
