Conscious Femininity (STUDIES IN JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY BY JUNGIAN ANALYSTS)

This book is on e of my favorites. I carry it with me always. Marion Woodman is a Crone, a Wise Woman, and a Master Teacher.This book is one of her easier books to read... it is in interview style so you can jump around. She talks a lot about the Crone and The Black Madonna, who I call Big Mama.The Black Madonna is emerging in people’s consciousness. She talks about how she is black and earthy, larger than life, she has a sense of humor, is larger than life, she is Love. She takes in all the orphans and and all our projections. She unifies spirit and matter and is the rainbow bridge between the heart and the mind.She talks about how the Soul tried to get our attention through me body. So we must listen to the messages of our body.She said, how when a person might have asthma and breathing problems before they deal with their mother complex. She said, when they release that their mucous comes out in ropes and they no longer have a asthma, but it moves into the sexual chakra. I have experienced this personally and also it further demonstates how the throat chakra is linked to the sacral.

Five years ago, listening to a group of remarkable women discussing the ideas of someone named Marion Woodman, I was intrigued. I wanted to read her work. Where should I start?Everyone in the group recommended that I start with Conscious Femininity. It is a wonderful introduction to the ideas found in her other books. In the interviews that make up Conscious Femininity, Marion Woodman speaks about an emerging feminine consciousness that will change the face of our patriarchal society, about relationships, about addiction, and about the masculine and feminine energies within each of us.Conscious Femininity, because of its interview format, gave me a quick glance at several different facets of Marion Woodman's work. After reading Conscious Femininity, I was able to decide which of her other books I wanted to read next. I have since read most of them. (The writing in Marion's books is extraordinarily rich -- sometimes I'll just read one paragraph and then stop to think about what she has said -- so reading any book of hers takes me a long time.) Conscious Femininity provided the wonderful overview that got me started.

This is the book which introduced me to Marion Woodman. I loved reading various interviews with her, and articles on her books. It's a good introduction to start reading Woodman's books one by one.Woodman gave me the the sense of why we need the balance the feminine energy with masculine energy. What is exactly each contributes into our lives.I now understand better the disequilibrium in me, and also in the world we live in.Thank you Marion Woodman. Much love.

This psychoanalyst from Canada helped me diagnose my abstract paintings that had been perplexing me for years. ​This particular book is easier to read than "The Pregnant Virgin". However, That book comes with high recommendation from two very smart good women friends. Check this lady OUT!

I’m not new to Jungian teachings, and I get Marion’s messsges in this book. Yet, Conscious Femininity leaves you in the space of darkness or resignation at best. With all the insights into consciousness, there’s no empowering message at the end. You’re left with your shadow dilema, no tools to overcome them. Having an insight is one thing, helping others to use it in an empowering way is another which, I don’t feel happens here.

Marion Woodman is amazing. She talks about a global conscious femininity that everyone can relate to. For those who are struggling with their feminine creature, due to their social upbringing and our society today, this is a MUST read.

This is perhaps the best introduction to the thought of Marion Woodman, whose understanding of the true Feminine and Masculine and of the possibility of activating the is essential to the enlivenment of individuals and our planet. Moving--very well presented.

If you are at all familiar with Carl Jung, you would know that he sees the anima in men - the feminine in men, just as women have their animus - the masculine in a woman. Marion Woodman is a devoted and intelligent student of Jung and depth psychology. No one can aspire to become whole and integrated without consciously exploring one's feminine aspect. This is as true of men as women.This is a down to earth discussion of some of the most important aspects of depth psychology with emphasis on the feminine aspect. Marion Woodman, like Jung himself, faced much darkness in her life that profoundly shaped her ideas. She was no arm chair psychologist. To see her ageless face, filled with joy for life, gives you an idea of the contents of this book and her thinking. Exploring and creating yourself using depth psychology takes courage and work to face your interior. But as Woodman says of encouraging a child to paint, to create, she says "Just give him the paints. Let him go to it and discover his own soul." The work is a joy of creation as Woodman radiates in her face and in her writing.There isn't anyone who wouldn't benefit from adding Woodman's writing to one's box of paints. I love Amazon, but her books are also available directly from Inner City Books, the publisher of this and other books by Woodman. No matter where you find the books, they are worth reading, and rereading.
