It is simple enough to use right out of the box, and powerful enough for basic projects (I made a small quilt top within the first 48 hours of owning it :O). For absolute beginners to machine sewing, there is a steep learning curve -- I thread the needle manually, and have endured MANY thread jams as I tried to sort out tension and how to pick up the lower bobbin thread. (Best suggestion -- leave the factory settings along, tension of 4 is perfectly fine, anything else is disastrous :) Unfortunately the machine does not come with a print manual, I strongly advise you look at the manufacturer's pdf version, and although the quick start guide is enough to get going, it it not enough for beginners to understand their machine. I found YouTube tutorials essential (a shout out to 'LydiaSewsThings' for getting me through). My recommendations for success in using this affordable machine include spending time 'playing with it', make a few dozen rows of straight seams, and use premium polyester thread and decent fabric (DO NOT USE CHEAP DOLLARSTORE THREAD, OR IT WILL JAM FOR SURE). I HIGHLY recommend the Singer MX231 for beginners -- it's an affordable entry point into machine sewing and a powerful, reliable machine that will be perfect for small garment construction, crafts, and basic quilting projects. I love my new Singer, and hope you will too. ## Features - Med ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B082DYYR7J | | Best Sellers Rank | #97,563 in Home & Kitchen ( See Top 100 in Home & Kitchen ) #83 in Sewing & Embroidery Machines | | Brand | SINGER | | Brand Name | SINGER | | Colour | White | | Country of Origin | USA | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,926 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00037431887481 | | Importer Contact Information | Singer India Limited, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), 3rd Floor, Block C-2-3, ISID Campus, 4, Vasant Kunj Institutional Area, New Delhi – 110070, M. 18001033474 | 8860118855, E-mail: customersupport@singerindia.com, Website: www.singerindia.com | | Included Components | Included Accessories: General Purpose Foot, Buttonhole Foot, Button Sewing Foot, Edge/Quilting Guide, Screwdriver, Seam Ripper or Lint Brush, Pack of Needles, Bobbins (Class 15 transparent), Thread Spool Cap, and Darning Plate | | Is Electric | Yes | | Item Dimensions D x W x H | 25D x 24W x 22H Centimeters | | Item Highlight | 23 stitches deliver 97 applications, 1-step buttonhole, LED light, for quilting, DIY crafts, home décor, decorative stitching | | Item Type Name | SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White | | Item Weight | 11.8 Pounds | | Manufacturer | SINGER India Limited | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | MX231 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Packer Contact Information | Singer India Limited, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), 3rd Floor, Block C-2-3, ISID Campus, 4, Vasant Kunj Institutional Area, New Delhi – 110070, M. 18001033474 | 8860118855, E-mail: customersupport@singerindia.com, Website: www.singerindia.com | | Part Number | MX60 | | Power Source | Corded Electric | | Power Source Type | Corded Electric | | Product Dimensions | 25D x 24W x 22H Centimeters | | UPC | 037431887481 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** SINGER - **Colour:** White - **Global Trade Identification Number:** 00037431887481 - **Is Electric:** Yes - **Item Weight:** 11.8 Pounds - **Material:** Plastic - **Number of Items:** 1 - **Power Source:** Corded Electric - **Product Dimensions:** 25D x 24W x 22H Centimeters - **UPC:** 037431887481 ## Images ![SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ApnF9CUEL.jpg) ![SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6171qweKNBL.jpg) ![SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41HMEuLptBL.jpg) ![SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/614HOun6wxS.jpg) ![SINGER 230282412 MX231 Sewing Machine, White - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/717FiXT87fL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Can we stitch jeans** A: Yes. **Q: Can we done embroidery in this machine?** A: Yes **Q: Can we do zig zag with this machine?** A: Yes **Q: does it comes with table? if not any product with table also.** A: No ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Maquina singer *by T***Y on 26 March 2026* Buenas maquinas ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beginner's Best Choice for Sewing Success *by A***R on 4 June 2025* As an absolute beginner to machine sewing, I LOVE the Singer MX 231.
