Huge amount of fragrant pepper!

These are terrific little pepper mills, made by Peugeot (yes, the French car makers) and not cheap. I bought three from the same seller and they are all arriving at different times, in flimsy plastic bag packaging. The first came apart in transit but was alright. This is the second one and it came split along one side with a crushed base and also half full of someone’s else’s pepper - why? It is beyond repair and the seller has no more to send me as a replacement. I’m hoping the third comes eventually and in one piece. (Cue curses here)

I had a Peugeot salt shaker and pepper mill many years ago and and happy to replace it. It is a great size and well made. I wish it wasn't so dark but the lighter one would not work for me.

This pepper mill absolutely possess the old-time classic look of the French mills of the 50s. My parents used the same exact design for decades: these are the only pepper mills I ever saw growing up, one in a darker color for black pepper, and the lighter color for white. I am happily perpetuating this tradition, and only get positive comments from guests. The mechanism is very reliable and I love the size: the entire pepper mill holds in your hand and therefore gives you the perfect grip.

I bought this for my son, who asked if I would give him my almost 40 year old Peugot pepper grinder (which looks exactly like this one). Since my old one is a treasure, I'm not about to give it away yet, but this is a good substitute and he can have his own for forty years.

It's pretty, and fits in your hand - whatever. But for those who were trying to look for a pepper grinder that was best quality WITHOUT any PLASTIC that's not 4 million dollars this is okay because of the mostly metal and wooden design. The top has plastic to hold the mechanism steady, so none is going into the food, but I am a little disappointed because I thought Peugeot was supposed to be a really good and quality brand, and I've seen an older version of the same thing at my friend's house that was really nice without plastic and was nice quality wood. The wood on the inside is also splintered and looks like plywood. I might as well have gone to my local Fred Meyer and picked up the one that looks exactly like this and saved twelve dollars.
