    Great machine

This appears to be new, advanced design prototype laptop hardware. This laptop has 2GB DDR3 RAM and a N2840 @ 2.16GHz × 2 Intel processor.Because I am used to Linux Mint MATE decided to install Linux Mint MATE on this machine, I also decided to change the installed 500GB HDD and replace it with a 120GB SSD. This is what I did:I replaced the 7mm thick 500GB HDD and replaced it with a 120GB Intel 525 series SSD. (one of the new ones with fast the read and write, and low idle power, $79) . Powered up pressing the the Esc key to enter the INCYDE UEFI boot loader options. In the Secure Boot Options page select (or verify that) Enforce Secure Boot is <disabled> (for Linux), press F10 to save. Rebooted with a Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela 64-bit USB3 live memory stick pluged in. Then in the Mint installation setup format the SSD drive to the following partitions:10 MB (legacy) BIOS Boot (leave the partition unformatted)120MB FAT23 EFI system (active boot flag)116GB EXT4 Linux File Systemand a 4GB Swap partition. If the relatively small 2GB RAM runs out then the laptop will presumably start using the the SSD swap space and wont crash, I think the SSD is 5 to 8 times faster than the HDD) .After the Linux Mint installation is completed, remove the Linux installation usb, and reboot with a YannUbuntu boot-repair-disk live USB memory stick plunged in, select the default Boot-Repair options, remove the usb memory sick. Finally, reboot to a working Linux Mint. Every thing looks fine, the screen is sharp and vibrant. For a 2 processor machine this laptop seems very responsive. The only Mint installation glitch that I have discovered so far is the LCD screen brightness applet did not work out of the box. From a Google search, in the Linux Mint forums the solution by Pedrinho at http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=103310 resolved the issue nicely and now the LCD applet works fine. The battery life, with a sensible screen brightness choice and surfing ( not video streaming) is probably about 6 hours. I have tried to stress test the apparently limited RAM space by simultaneously opening 10 instances each of: Lible Office Writer, full LCD screen capture, and Fire fox without any problem at all. On start up The Fedora 21 installation intakes up about 456 MB or 24.3%, the mint installation takes up 292 MB or 16% of RAMIn summary:Cons:- RAM space not upgradeableThe Plus:- Q3'14 release date Intel processor- Beautiful 'razor' style case, and 1366x768 14 inch diagonal colour LCD- Runs the Latest Linux with no proprietary drivers required. I am very happy with this machine, the price / performance is good I give it a 5 star rating. There do not seem to be comparable Mint machines out there, but if there were, looking at comps, Id bet the price would be about $260
