Color is true to the photo. Very sandy. Would not add to food or drink as it creates and unpleasant texture. Fairly fine texture and thus does not absorb water as well as other sands, it tends to bead up and roll off. Extra care needs to be taken if you intend to use it for basing miniatures or use in terrain because of this.

I purchased this sand for a unity ceremony during my wedding, and it's absolutely beautiful!! We purchased 6 colors, and the sand is super fine and slightly sparkly. Way better quality than those found in craft stores, and each pack had more than enough sand for our need. I love that they had such an array of colors to choose from... I had driven around to craft store after craft store looking for 6 colors that complimented each other... I only wish I would have found these on amazon sooner!!

This is the exact color I was hoping for. The sand has a nice sparkle to it, but is very subtle.
