The pendants (my son and mine) are lightly etched and designs are visible - meaning, some pendant are just etched and you can barely see the figures on it. Some reviewers thinks it’s too shallow of an etching but I think it is perfect. The pendants do have some “sharpness” to its edges but not enough to cut skin or so. The heaviness of it reminds me of expensive gold chains with pendants! I’ve showered (and sweated) wearing the silver one and so far, it is holding up as promised. The prices are amazing and this is a good gift to friends and family. It's a little large, but not overly so. The design/engraving is very detailed, beautiful, and just what I was looking for. The chain seems a little flimsy, considering the size and heft of the medal.
