Good looking and great performance
I am writing this review because of the negative posts I am reading here now that I am coming back to buy another unit. I bought this toilet first in 2012 and installed it in a preschool classroom with 16 children that did not have its own bathroom. The installation was not difficult for my handyman. Over all these 5 years we just have a couple of incidents with children who flushed toys on it. Nothing serious and quickly solved. This toiled has perform way much better than I expected. The boxes as I remember came well packed and with all parts. Instructions were not a challenge. No idea about customer service because we never call them. Also we never had to change any part of it, I was not aware they are required, but will check it out if it is true to avoid a surprise. I love the design of the unit. It is very stylish and the fact that it does not touch the floor is also great for cleaning. UPDATE: Now we are 7 years after installation. Yesterday the toilet did not flushed. We open it and found a plastic toy and a ball of wipes in the blades. Again it works again like a charm. I am very happy with the performance of this toilet in a very demanding commercial use. Still we have never done any kind of maintenance or replacing parts.

So far a great product but Leary of this supplier .
I like the product however it appeared that I was sent a used unit. There were markings all over the toilet that will not come off, the water line compression fitting was obviously been hooked up before and the two stage flush button only had one working side. I called saniflush and they were great and sent a new flush button. I had to remove the toilet and tear it apart to change the button. This supplier has lost my trust , paying $1300 you would expect a brand new unit. I have managed to get everything working. I kept this unit because prior attempts resulted in a smashed delivery and after 2 months of trying to acquire this unit I wanted to complete my project.

Nightmare
We like the concept but not the problems. Sanistar + professional installation = $2000 so far. Have not used it yet, but had to replace the pump already. Unit is now flashing properly... every 15 minutes, automatically... Need more replacement parts. Loosing patience.

Sanistar Macerating Toilet
This company has great customer service, they really do. It is a good thing because I never had so much trouble with something that should just hang on the wall. First, it came missing nearly all of the parts. Then they hardware that did not match the instructions because they changed the installation process. Finally, some of the internal parts, including wiring, had to be assembled by me because they were just put into the sealed unit without assembly. Fortunately, I could read a schematic, and (as I said) the customer service people were great. I emailed the company with my complaints, but never got a response!!! On the positive side, once I got all the parts and installed it, it works fine.

Trouble free decade of service
I installed the SaniStar myself on an inside wall with an access panel for the plumbing and wiring. In ten years I've never had to open that panel. The pump also services the adjacent sink and though some house guests have allowed the water to run in the sink causing the pump to run continuously, the half dozen times that's happened have left no ill effect. My only problem now is where to find a replacement toilet seat! It is unique to this toilet and so far my searches have been fruitless!

Not completely care free
I installed the unit in my barn bathroom. Installation was easy in part due to the use of 2” ABS pipe instead of 4”. It’s been in use for about 8 years. MAIN caution - DO NOT EVER USE A TOILET PLUNGER, for any reason. SaniStar has an excellent service department, very knowledgeable and helpful. There’s a small air inlet/discharge tube that regulates the amount of air required to flush and then closes to start the flushing process that requires a vacuum (no air). Using a toilet plunger forces the clogged matter into the air tube and no more vacuum = no more flushing. After repairs the toilet flushes as designed which is great however there is an issue with the flushing cycle continuing when not needed. Might require replacement of a micro switch. Plus is the toilets are easy to work on once their off the wall.

Caused over $12K in damages
This thing is possessed by the devil...having the computerized-motor placed behind that wall is asking for trouble. In my case, the motor - on two separate occasions - sprung a leak and water filled the interior of the walls. The first time cost me $1100 in plumbing fees to remove the toilet, send the toilet motor back to SaniFlo for service, have it reinstalled an repair the wall damage. Second time, the circuitboard fried and proceeded to fill my toilet with water until it overflowed and flooded the entire room and two rooms adjacent to it. Now I'm dealing with $12,000 in damages to have the entire bathroom gutted from water damage, have all the flooring ripped out in three rooms and deal with mold. Avoid this product unless you seek pain and misery.

Repair prone and expensive
One was installed in house I purchased so the saga starts. It was relatively new unit and had to purchase control board. Then completely failed with waste shooting all over. So figured get a new unit for over $1000 then paid plumber $750 to install. Pump was faulty so they first tried to troubleshoot which wasted $500 for plumber. Then I insisted they send a new pump. They did but was missing a part so wasted another$500 for plumber then finally got all parts and another $500 to finish. Now 8 months later it is again not working. Thinking of going to qwik Jon ultra, seems more reliable
