It is supposed to be a very close relative to the much higher spec Cubase VST 5 as opposed to an update of Cubasis VST 2.0. Even if you are a beginner or an experienced user you will find something to impress you here. The main problem I personally have is the processor requirements. If you want to use quite a few of the 'plug ins' (eq, delay, reverb etc) and also want to use the virtual instruments you are going to need a hefty cpu. The program as it stands is quite cpu intensive. I have an Amd Athlon Thunderbird @1120 mhz with 256 mb of pc 133 ram and even though it handled very well I can see with only a slightly lesser cpu you would struggle. Also if you want to be running quite a lot of stereo audio tracks as well (12+) you are going to need a large speedy hard drive. Overall though I can very highly recommend the package. It is extremely good value for money (especially considering you get wavelab lite, basic cd mastering program and a bonus cd with samples) Review: Superb value for money. - Very, very good. For the price I am extremely impressed. Even on my relatively slow laptop (600MHz, Pentium PRO, 96Mb) I have had no real problems running with up to 16 audio tracks (hooked up to Edirol UA-20 via USB + 20GB Lacie USB pocket drive). OK, you might have to tweak buffers and audio settings to get the latency and playback how you want it. Built in VST instruments are very handy, pretty good sounds and saves having to use a MIDI module for output i.e. you can go MIDI in to audio out via software. The only thing I really would like is the drum editor from Cubase, but for the price I can live without it.
