I have a new puppy, a retriever who weighs 18 lbs. I bought this so when I take her to the vet she's not all over me. This just clips around the headrest and the other end clips to her collar. Easy to adjust, the material is good quality, not flimsy, well made. I've got mine adjusted so she can get to the console, but no way can she fall off the seat. I don't know how well it would hold up to chewing but I wouldn't leave my dog unattended with this. This can probably work well as a short leash also, but I use a regular leash so I haven't tried it. There are 2 to a package and the price is excellent.

Yes, my dog is riding in the front seat and not in a crate. I have an entire backseat cover and we are working on that. She is a stander, a twirler, a whiner, and a climber. She wears a collar and a harness for walking/training, as well as for car rides. I would not hook her to a seatbelt by her throat so a “tether” to her harness is what I wanted. I almost opted for one of the seatbelt clip ins but decided they would a nightmare for her given her twirling and climbing and whining. This secured to the headrest (which is always in the down position), hooks to her harness so it will not yank her by the throat in the event of a accident or me swerving to avoid something, and it extends long enough that I can adjust her range of freedom without plummeting off a seat either as she grows from a puppy to a dog. It is currently at its shortest length though, so adjusting longer is probably not happening. It seems heavy duty, same material as leashes with metal clip, but there are plastic parts that will weaken with age especially in a hot car exposed to UV. This came as a 2 pack, so I will likely just replace the current one with the spare in 6 months to be cautious. I opted for the yellowish one because it is the most visible. I think if there ever were an emergency it would be the most visible color to draw attention in my truck’s dark interior. Not my favorite color, but increasing visibility in the event the tether/seatbelt has to do its job, well, that was more important. So far it works great. Keeps her in the seat when I brake, turn, even if she twirling or trying to climb out of the seat. She doesn’t get tangled up, my seatbelt clip isn’t broken because I clipped something into it, and this device is readily visible since it attaches to the headrest. If she grows any taller I may need to find a shorter one, but otherwise this is a good length with good adjustments for dogs shorter than 18” to the shoulder. I would suggest measuring your headrest to the seat, then subtracting your dogs shoulder height to get the best length. My puppy has grown a few inches in the past month this has been used, and I have easily shortened it 4” in that time, and I cannot shorten it any further. Overall this ticks all the boxes for my requirements: adjustability, length, visibility, allows my dog to twirl without tangling herself up, doesn’t jeopardize my seatbelt clip, and seems beefy enough to do its job if it gets tested beyond me giving it several hard yanks. Fair price, 2 pack so I have a replacement at the ready, and I will do my due diligence and inspect it regularly for signs of wear or failure on any clips, rings or plastic. Very easy to quickly clip onto her harness and just as easy to unclip. Here’s to hoping it never gets tested beyond this!

We have 3 dogs around 20 lbs each. These leads provide a large, durable, high quality, safe and quick harness attach, and release system. The loop at the handle slides over the headrest, or clips under the head rest if you prefer. Rest stops are no longer chaotic. We can safely open the back door and manage each dog a safe exit. They cannot jump out. They want too try. Haha The lead is just long enough for walks. I wish we knew about this exact solution years ago. The length allows stand, turn, redecorate their space without tangling around each other. Built well, will hold larger dogs, durable and perfectly designed to keep everyone in the back seat of the Ram truck and the Lexus car. We use a high quality hammock in each vehicle for the safest back seat travel experience. Combined we are a happy calm family. Just get this and relax.

These dog safety belts are a great and afforadable way to keep you pup safe while traveling in the car. I appreciate that it comes with 2 safety belts in case you need them for multiple vehicles and/or pets. I will say that the length of the safety belt (even at it's shortest level) is still a bit long. As you can see in the second photo my dog is still able to stand up to look out the window - which could be a good or a bad thing depending on your preference. But for me I wish the safety belt was able to be adjusted to be even shorter in length because the way it is now I had to push the car seat back as much as possible to accomodate for the length. But overall great car safety solution! But I think long term I would explore other options.

I love it, it keeps my chihuahua safe and he can still lay down on the seat with comfort and he can still move a little without being at risk of harming himself.

These safety belts are great in my 4 door pickup. My German Shepherd has the entire back seat to himself. I use these restraints with a body harness and they work great on him, keeping him in the back. They also work great as a short leash, very strong. Highly recommend and super fast shipping too!

Totally unsafe, the stitching wasn't even holding parts of these straps together properly and the buckles/metal connectors were really flimsy. There was absolutely no way I was going to trust this with my small breed dog, it would simply snap. Unfit for purpose. Returned immediately.

I like the way the leash is fitted and hangs from the top of the seat rather than the bottom. It lessens her chance of getting tangled. She does chew on it and occasionally try to wrap it around her neck but otherwise this is really the best car leash you could get. Perfect length and is adjustable. My dog can stick her head out the window, but not fall off the seat. Could be used as a leash for walking if you forgot to bring one with you. Makes car rides and very visits easy and secure. I would buy this again and I would recommend it to others. My only criticism is that I would have preferred to have ordered just one as opposed to two. We won’t need another one anytime soon, so the second one is kind of a burden if you don’t have a second dog or car. $17 for two is great, but honestly these do look cheap. They are simple car leashes that clip around the head rest. I do think these could be sold for less. I wouldn’t call these value for money, but $17 isn’t much and my puppers safety comes first.
