Wow...just WOW
I am a sailor and have just had a problem with a 4.5 year old foul weather jacket delamination and leaking. Very annoying for a major marine brand name garment. I decided to try this Windrider jacket, also purchased the bibb.I am headed out for a race in a week but I did a fit and feature test when the jacket (and bibb) arrived today. I am blown away. I have had West Marine and Gill foulies and these are far far better from a feature point of view. Of course the proof is in the pudding out on the water but I am pretty sure these are going to be nicely water and spray proof. The real question is how durable will they be and only time will tell. With regard to features that immediately come to mind and are great.1. collar has no flap. The zip when pulled all the way up brings the collar up to just above nose level. Although this seems high it is actually much better than a flap which, when not secured across the lower face, tends to flap around in the wind and constantly beat you in the face. Incredibly annoying. This gear fixes the problem. and works great in doing so.2. The rain hood is not some thin vinyl material like many are, it is the same material as the jacket and is fairly stiff so it actually wears more like an adjustable hat, nice and solid. The brim is a real brim, not one of those flakey "we put something on there so we could call it a brim" brim.3. There are freaking pockets for all sorts of sailor crap including cold hands at chest level. This is sweet. I am a singlehander so I tend to carry stuff because I don't have crew to carry stuff and I am stuck at the helm a lot, so having a dry place for phone, PLB, handheld VHF and so forth is really good.4. I am 175 lbs 5 foot 9. I bought a medium and it is perfect. Plenty of wiggle room for layers but not a tent. I am stoked because I often have to compromise on fit.On the very slight con side I must say I think mfg should have added some wide reflective tape in the shoulder area and on hood. No points lost on this but if you go overboard that reflective tape can be a lifesaver. Now I know this review is for the Jacket but the bibb is also fantastic in many of the same ways. I am going to write a seperate review for it but if you buy this jacket you would be nuts not to seriously consider the bibb. In is a fantastic value IMO. More in the bibb review.I am so enthusiastic about this gear I will try to do an update and provide a pic or too after next week's race.

Good quality, great price! Punches above it's class.
I have quite a few jackets in my closet and I'm kind of a gear nut, but I wore through my last sturdy shell jacket and that I would give this one a shot. I was pleasantly surprised at how many features you got for the price. It is easy to spend $500 on a top rated shell these days, and this one will provide me far better value. The collar is nice and high to keep the wind out, I don't typically like a buff or scarf so I've found that to be a nice feature. The cuffs cinch tight to the wrist so you don't have to worry about water or snow running into the sleeves, especially while you're active. The over construction is good, and I have no worries about how it will hold up since the material is pretty sturdy as well.My one real critique of the jacket is that it runs a bit bigger than I was expecting. In my case I'm happy to use the extra room for layering during those extra chilly outings, but others might want to size down depending on your preference.

quality piece of foul weather gear
I'm a Windrider WR17 owner. I initially ordered this jacket because I wanted a shell that carries the Windrider logo. Beyond that I really wasn't expecting much. What I got was a well thought out, well constructed, quality piece of foul weather gear. I own an expensive offshore Gore-Tex jacket from West Marine but the Windrider jacket blows it away in fit, breathability and features. The ample fleece-lined collar, adjustable hood and elastic cinch at the bottom of the jacket will keep out the wind and rain. It has a pair of large 7" x 8" pockets with Velcro closure flaps that include fleece lined slip-in slots to keep your hands warm. There are two zippered chest pockets and an interior zippered pocket for your wallet. The hood includes an adjustable Velcro tab on the crown and comes with a bill to keep water drips out of your eyes. All good stuff. This is a jacket I will gladly recommend to my friends.

For the money - it's great; a few less features than some jackets, but half (or less) the price.
Good jacket overall, especially when price is factored in.The good:'Keeps my dry in heavy wind and rain, comfortable, breathable, plenty of pockets. The not-so-good:The fabric wets out completely, leaving the membrane to do the work (a wash in Nicwax fixed that). The velcro on the storm flap gets fouled easily, especially if you have a dog. I don't see that velcro lasting a long time...No pit zips - I haven't been overly warm in this jacket yet, but my last jacket had pit-zips that were VERY nice to have in a warm rain shower.Overall, this is a good jacket for a good price. There are (much) better options, but at twice the price.

Exceptional product and service
I spend lots of time outdoors, especially on and by the water, rafting, fishing and sailing and this is without a doubt the best rainsuit for the money that is available anywhere. I bought the jacket and bib overalls and simply love them. They have all the features that I expect: perfect fit, quality materials, velcro flaps, excellent zippers, piled pockets, etc. etc. Also I have dealt directly with WindRider and they totally stand behind their products and make things right. I could go on and on with kudos and accolades about this company and what they make but this is the real deal and I will continue to buy from WindRiver because they know how to make outstanding outdoor gear and provide top of the line follow up service.

Waterproof, comfy, features could be improved
Generally happy with it. Brighter red than expected and it did not have the light gray-white accents. Annoyingly the industrial strength velcro rips off any knit apparel you happen to wear; or cuff velcro hooks to other exposed velcros getting your movements arrested when you least expect it. Hood/ brim way too short, getting rain in the eyes

Does not match picture... its better
The Jacket I received did not have the grey on the sleeves. I actually prefer the solid colour. I bought a Red Jacket. It is bright Red.I fit a 2XL comfortably with room for layers under.Quality is good and it is waterproof.
