Organic and sun dried: perfect prunes for stewing or chewing
We think that these are among the absolutely best prunes available. Unlike the squashed, brown stodgy mass that supermarkets sell, these individual prunes are picked from organic orchards in Bulgaria and dried in the autumn sunshine. They are prunes, but you can still taste that they were plums. They are simply a natural delight! These prunes will need cooking gently to make them soft. We eat them daily for breakfast, stewed in Sunsweet prune juice, and, in our many years of searching for treatments for our IBS and sluggish digestive systems, these are uniquely safe and effective. On the odd time that they fail, an evening dose of Milk of Magnesia is our back up. That never fails. The few reviewers here who have left negative comments are failing to understand what a naturally dried plum is supposed to be like. As they arrive, they are quite dry and tough skinned. Some like this as they are very chewy; but it's not the usual way to eat prunes. They need slowly simmering. We do this in a mixture of Sunsweet prune juice and water, until the skins soften. Then we keep them in the fridge until used. Once cooked, they swell to a nice large size and become perfectly soft and tasty and make the most perfect and tasty breakfast. My wife mixes hers with home-made muesli or with full-fat, natural organic Greek yoghurt. I eat them on their own, about six a day. The sweetness of all prunes comes mainly from a natural sugar called sorbitol, which is what makes them healthy to eat and effective at treating digestive problems. Sorbitol is not absorbed, which is what makes it that rare thing: a healthy sugar.

Delicious, excellent quality and cheap.
Hands down the best prunes I've bought, I don't normally write reviews but these were really good. I've been trying lots of different brands of prunes but none of them have really done it for me. These ones though are pretty different. They are drier than most prunes I've tried, and I really prefer this. I don't really like the partially re-hydrated prunes you normally get. The prunes are really big, have a very good flavour (not that sweet, which I also appreciate). There are also no preservatives which is a big plus - most prunes I've bought also contain some kind of vegetable oil. If you don't like prunes this dry, you can simmer them in hot water (maybe with some lemon). Very recommended, I wish this brand much success.

A sweet way to keep you soft
We enjoyed these sweet prunes they are dried but not overly & are soft chewy. Helped with bowels after an operation too!

Hooray, proper cooking prunes!!!!!!!
These are just great prunes, exactly what I was after. I scored them as 3* for softness, which is a GOOD THING. The whole point of dried fruit is that they're dried and not the horrid, sticky, flaccid mess currently on offer in UK supermarkets. These prunes are just super for stewing in wine to serve as a sweet or to be put into a stew to take up the meat juices without disintegrating, not to mention studding roast pork loin Danish style. Also, being thoroughly dried you get more for your money, not paying for cheap humectant filler.

Firm, but not unpleasant taste
They have a tough, thick skin (good fibre!). Despite that, they taste nice and have a nice orange aftertaste. Would have given 5 stars if soft.

The quality of the fruit
Beautiful dried prunes, ideal for breakfast with bran flakes and healthy as well.

Much better than expected!
When reading the reviews I always start from bottom to the top. Since the sun dried additive free prunes were not suppose to taste as soft and nice as other ones I desided to buy them anyway because they are sun dried and free from additives, hoping I can tolerate the taste and if not, I’ll try to soak or cook them first. For my very nice surprise they are absolutely lovely straight from the bag! I can’t stop eating them! The reason I thought of buying them is I’m trying to get off the usual TV snacks like crisps and sweets to get into clean eating. Seaweed sushi nori paper works very well as a savoury substitute and these prunes will be my sweet snacks. I’m very pleased I did deside to get them. Downside? Well, I’ll have to get a new pack a lot sooner than I anticipated! Really, the taste to me is great!
