Practice Problems for the Environmental Fundamentals of Engineering Exam: 240 Practice Problems with Solutions

One of the Three
There are only three books that are available for FE Environmental, and this is one of them. This book covers all the topics. I prepared for two weeks using this book, one from Anthem publishers and NCEES practice test along with some YouTube videos and was able to pass. The problems in these three books are closely resembles the hardness of the problems you get in exam. I would recommend getting these three books.

Errors in solutions
Overall I think this book does a great job of providing a wide range of practice problems. However, I have found a few errors in the solutions and answers that contradict with reputable sources such as the EPA. Just something to keep in mind as you study!

It's ok, but don't rely on it solely
Like other reviewers have mentioned, there are quite a few errors throughout. There are not many resources available for the FE environmental exam and I don't want this one to be completely written off so I'll give it a 4, but with a catch. Make sure you have other resources that are your primary study materials. This should only be a supplement set of problems to give some diversity to your preparation. In addition to this book I also used the Anthem publishing problem set and the official NCEES practice test. I felt both were more useful than this book. Anthem has only about half the problems as this, but they are of slightly higher quality both in content and accuracy. To summarize, buy the other two I mentioned first, then buy this if you feel like you could benefit from additional problems to solve.

Many Typos
Finding a good review for the Environmental FE has been difficult. This book is one of the few that I have found that actually covers all of the topics covered in the exam. The questions seem challenging enough and relevant. That being said, the solutions are ambiguous and don't provide references. For example, an equation was used for Henry's partitioning coefficient, but I could not find that equation anywhere in the Reference Manual. My biggest complaint for this book is the typos. There have been several times that the solutions say the answer was B, but the actual value corresponds with answer C, for example. That being said, for what is available for the Environmental FE reviews, this is good preparation.

Somewhat of a waste of time
It was ok, some of the problems were more difficult than the FE problems, which doesn't help you prepare for the FE, and there were many errors within the book. I wouldn't recommend this book to people.

Good Practice, Bad Solutions
This book is really useful as an extra set of problems. That said, the solutions are commonly wrong in one way or another. Sometimes it's units being listed incorrectly, sometimes the wrong value was used versus what the reference manual states is appropriate (exposure duration for carcinogen vs. non-carcinogen, etc). Overall the problems seem very similar to the official practice book, you just have to be aware the solutions may not be correct when checking your work.

SOOOO many wrong problems
A lot of the solutions were incorrect or had incorrect information. Very annoying when you are trying to learn how to do problems correctly...

Not comparable to an actual FE exam
The problems are way too easy comparing to the actual FE exam. The solutions are not well explained. Lots of errors. The book is somehow useful, but I would not buy if I knew the content.
