No Game No Life: Zero BLU-RAY Standard Edition [2018]

Fell in love with the characters! (Darker side, but appreciate the story and end result)
I bought the blu-ray version. It has both English and Japanese audio, with the Japanese version supporting English subtitles. There's also options for Spanish and Japanese audio with Spanish subtitles. People who loved the the anime, will enjoy this movie. (Thanks!) First thing, the voice actors (if you loved them) are back to reprise their roles! (Please!)The movie itself in the beginning is a bit on the dark side, but an hour into the movie, you start to feel things heat up with Riku and Schwi hatching a plan, and all the way to the end of the movie will be full of action and emotions. You’ll definitely enjoy these characters. I would probably watch this movie again! I’m really glad I purchased it!! I love the music they associated to this movie.Out of the special features, the “Behind the Scenes” was entertaining. They put pulled pieces from season 1 and also got the voice actors’ perspective of the characters and the movie. No Game No Life Zero is also available on HDIVE as well.

One of the best Anime Movies out there, imho.
I ordered it while on sale for ~$15. Can't be happier for the price.Picture on this standard Blu-ray is very clean. Looks gorgeous on 65 inch 4K TV with the right home theater set up. It sounds so awesome. I've watched with Japanese 5.1 track and subtitles. I felt as if I'm listening to some Hollywood quality sound mixing (got 5.1 system based on Focal Aria 948 and SVS sub). Thumbs up to Sound Director and other staff working on this movie. I can't be happier on these two things.Being the fan of the initial series and its humor, I was up for a big surprise with this movie. I can tell one thing... "it's different" from the series and in my opinion, one should watch the series first as it was intended before the movie. The impact you'll feel will be so much bigger. No matter how many times I watch this movie, I can't remain indifferent to the theme of the human heart explored in the movie. It's epic.

The Definition of an Amazing movie
No Game No Life Zero is the only movie i have watched so far that has made me cry it's a beautiful movie especially for only being 1 hour and 46 mins. many people would say its rushed but how else would you put it they had a limited amount of time to use and they put everything in the correct spot from comical relief to tense heart breaking moments (if you haven't watched the anime yet which is just called No Game no Life watch that first then watch this movie)

Swchi kicks a
For a prequel this was great. It added a new depth to the no game no life story. The world before the god of games become the one true God was simply terrible. It was interesting to see how inhumanity got it's name and became a race.

Best of No Game No Life
I honestly did not expect this movie to be as good as it was. After watching the 1st season of the series(really hoping that 2nd season comes out....) and knowing how most animes movies are.. I just wanted some more of this series. It was far better than I expected. The plot was great! the picture quality and the audio quality was awesome! Id definitely recommend anyone who enjoyed NGNL to buy this movie.

that box office budget on graphics!
Removes a lot of the fun around critical thinking in the original but beefs up the battle sequences

It's a good movie
The information of the war was good for the world building. This is kind of a tear jerkier due to the music and tone. The art is what you would expect from mad house good quality. It's darker then the main series but still good. I would have bought the limited edition if I knew about it but when I searched it didn't pop up. Wonder what the collectors edition will have.

Visually impressive adventure of a series that deserves continuation!
Nice packaging. The included bookset contains some production info and an extra adventure in manga form. The movie itself is visually impressive with an enjoyable story, pulling from the sixth volume in the Light Novel series. Maybe one day we'll see the continuation of the anime series!

Genial pelicula

Great prequel movie
Firstly the limited edition version is of nice quality, the booklet and box are of high quality, and the bluray has a reversible cover. In the booklet there is a small manga and short story, the rest of it is full of concept art, and then there is another short story to close out the bookletIt has the same special features as the US version. There are only a few small differences between this and the US premium version, they get a sticker, less pages in the booklet, two discs and different art for the bluray covers. So, for the release itself. It's only fair I talk about the dub, and I absolutely slated the dub in NGNL as it was terrible, so I expected to hate this one, for the most part I was surprised, it was overall tolerable, and would have been pretty decent if it wasn't let down by one member of the cast.Scott Gibbs as Riku, credit where credit is due, this time he understood the character and no longer came across sounding like a Jock, instead he sounded like the near emotionless jaded character he was portraying (while displaying the bursts of anger and self loathing in private)Sara Ornelas, maybe because Corounne is such a different character to Steph, but this time it workedAmelia Fischer, maybe it's because of this story, but she finally understood that although Jibril looks like an Angel, she really isn't one, so my complaint last time was they tried to have her sound angelic for the bulk of the film is gone, this time we were able to get closer to what she's like (except at the end when she takes back the old voice)And now the bad,The old cast voices, so when they are using the voices they used for NGNL, urgh, Izuna is bad, Sora is Bad, Shiro is dreadful, and Jibril is bad.Which brings me to Caitlynn French, who I really do think was horribly miscast, the initial encounter was an utter failure of acting there is a line that is supposed to sound jarring and out of place as it should be delivered in a flat monotone completely void of any emotion, and we don't get the same feel in the delivery of the line in the dub. More to the point I can't tell that much difference between her Ex Machina voice and her voice as Schwi. Now for the most part the Schwi voice is passable, then near the end at the peak point when it matters, there is a failure to convey the emotion. If you compare this performance to that of the sub, there is just no comparison, in my opinion the Sub is better anyway and the voices fit the characters better, but Schwei is vastly superior in the Sub.So yes, the dub is an improvement to NGNL, although it was a low bar to pass, but there are still issues, as such the Sub is still the best option. So, lets now talk about the film, and spoiler freeIt's an adaptation of the 6th novel, but is it's own self contained story as it is a prequel story set 6000 years before the current events, so technically you don't need to watch NGNL to watch this, and as it doesn't end on a cliffhanger being a complete story, you don't need to worry about the endless wait for season 2 either. Also the astute will know that we skipped two volumes to get to Zero from the endpoint of Season 1 which only covered the first three light novels, like season 1, these aren't necessary to following or understanding the plot of Zero, but they do add some extra background details that you pick up on when watching this.Zero answers many of the questions raised throughout NGNL, how Disboard came to be, how Tet came to become the One True God, what ended the great war, and the biggest mystery of all, how on earth did Imanity survive through it all?It is far darker than NGNL, and without the 10 pledges, there are different stakes, there is a tangible danger to everything, and you don't get to face the same OP nature that Sora and Shiro have, most of the issues that people raised with NGNL are countered in Zero (except for fanservice, there is still fanservice, otherwise it wouldn't be NGNL)
