Emanon Volume 2: Emanon Wanderer Part One Paperback – August 27, 2019

This volume; this series, so far, is beautiful but extraordinarily haunting. The art is magnificent, but paired with the narrative, I find it different from other reading experiences. Graphic novels tend to divide in categories for me. The majority is just what it is, reading a comic book or cartoon. There is a special, rarified group that divides itself into two general categories. The art & narrative are well above average, full of life & movement. These are like reading a movie or a dream. Emanon is different. There's a stillness to it, and the silence is deafening. It's more like reading a meditation.

Emanon is a weird comic, even by the standards of many weird mangas. The story revolves around Emanon or No Name spelled backwards a sort of organism that somehow gained consciousness over 3 Billion years ago and has just been aimlessly wandering the planet to figure out what is its purpose in life. Vol. 1 introduced us to the main protagonist and this volumes dives a bit deeper into her background and we find out that somehow she has a brother and she decides to meet him and maybe understand herself a bit better.The art of Emanon is very simple, and yet very evocative. I don't know how the artist does that but every page has this air of moodiness which adds so much to the look and feel of the plot.If you like comics that remind you of works of esoteric film directors like say, David Lynch, I think you'll like Emanon quite a lot. Its plot is engaging, refreshing, the art is simple yet great and its a very good story. I highly recommend it.P.S I also highly recommend Wandering Island by the same author/artist.

As expected, beautiful art, great story, came in perfect condition. There are colored pages for a little less than half of the book. Very nice to look at :)

The story moves along slowly, but there is a new player, a brother, a brother when there's never been one before. And he's not the same, but he's of the same line and different, and well, Volume 3 comes out soon, so I will read that one too.

This volume does not disappoint at all in terms of art and story and has some beautiful color pages tooif you liked the first volume, you'll definitely like this one.

Emanon volume 2 is more to the story of Emanon, a melancholic character who explores interpersonal moments in time and a great presense in every manga collection. HOWEVER, WAIT FOR A REPRINT. Retail for this book is closer to $13 or something, not $80.
