Great Auto Gate Opener
I own two of these mighty mule gate systems, one medium and one heavy duty. I have had zero issues with them, other than battery being dead and physical problems with one of my gates. I would purchase another one without hesitation.

Great opener
Works great. Just be sure you BUY A NEW BATTERY, whether you think it is good or not. Ours was pretty new and we checked the cells, gate opener would not work, changed the battery and worked like a champ. It actually said in the instructions, to purchase a new battery.

WARNING Stay away from Mighty Mule and Nortek.
This gate opener did not work properly right out of the box. The opener would not learn its limits. It also made a loud roar but at the time , I did not know that was abnormal. I called tech support for the next 5 weeks and it was an endless do loop of them treating me like some kind of trained pet. Do you have 12.5v. Can you make a jumper wire and do this and do that. I have a job and didnโt have time to do tricks for them. Finally with 5 days to go before my Amazon return free window closed, they agreed the control circuit board was bad and should be replaced. Did they offer to send me a new unit or a new board right away. No. I had to take the board off and send it to them and then they would send me a replacement board. By the way I didnโt mention, this unit was to replace a previous Might Mule 360 (which replaced the previous one that lasted 13 months) that had gone out after 18 months - so I had been without a working gate opener for going on 3 months. I was just wanting to get the opener working so I sent the the board on my dime. The board was received by Mighty Muke on a Wednesday. No response on Friday so I called their so called tech support. After a run around, yes we show that it was received but shipping is closed now so it will be Monday before we can ship the new board. Iโm ballistic but figure what the heck , I can wait a few more days. A week goes by and crickets, so I call and get this, they ask me if I have 12.5v at my circuit board. NO I DONโT HAVE A CIRCUIT BOARD, I sent it to you morons. โOh, okay. Well that part is out of stock and it will not be available for 3 weeksโ. I hung up and called Amazon. That was what I should have done to begin with other than not ordering a Mighty Mule. Amazon sent me a new MM372 opener, gave me a Return Authorization on the faulty one and 4 days later after calling Amazon, I had a gate opener that works. Now if I can only find the $100 wireless transmitter that I had to take faulty circuit board, I will be set until this one breaks down in 18 months. Stay away from Mighty Mule and anything that their parent company Nortek is involved with. Their product is not durable, their instructions are a a puzzle, and the tech support and management do not stand behind their product (I wouldnโt either literally and figuratively) knowing itโs likely to malfunction). I will not buy another even though I am invested in all the other accessories that go with the gate (latch locks, motion detectors, keypads, transmitters and now the $100 WiFi if I can find it.

Replacement for MM350 Gate Opener - Nice Upgrade
I had to replace my gate opener when the Amazon driver crashed the gate with his van. THe MM350 is no longer made, so I got the MM371W Opener. First, the mounting hardware was all different than the MM350. However, that is a good thing as this one mounts much sturdier than the previous one. Second, the Control Board is in a remotely mounted box, NOT inside the opener. That makes programming MUCH easier. Additionally, the ON/OFF switch is on the Control Box, NOT the bottom of the operator. Third, the antenna now comes out of the Control Box as well. The unit came with a small antenna that mounts to the side of the Control Box, but after reading reviews, I bought an external antenna kit and mounted mine high atop the pole rather than on the box. The OLD remotes can easily be programmed to the new unit so it's seamless to the users. The new Gate open FASTER than the old one which is a blessing. The closing time can be adjusted like the old unit using a resistance pot on the Control Board. Instructions are easy to follow, but if your replacing the old unit this installation is even simpler. While it was a pain to have to replace my gate and opener, I'm actually glad that the Amazon guy made it necessary because this unit is an improvement - only because they don't still sell the old one. Highly Recommend the MM371W.

Works Good, no problem with range using the remote, a few other problems
Bought the MM371 single gate operator in June 2020 to replace a MM FM350 that died after about 4.5 years. Had to make a slight adjustment to the mounting bracket attached on the gate post for it to work. Since the MM371 has a separate control box (it was built into the FM350 arm) I mounted it on a piece of 2" PVC pipe secured in the ground. There was no wire included to go from the power supply that plugged into the 120V outlet so I used the same wire I had used on the FM350 . This caused problem 1. The MM371 power supply outputs DC whereas the FM350 used AC, I didn't realize that. I got the polarity wrong so it didn't work until I figured out my error. Their instructions actually do mention connecting red and black wires, but there weren't any wires included in my kit, that would have prevented this error. The original unit also had a defect. The terminal block for the green and white wires from the operator had not been soldered to the board and came off when I attached the wires. After a long wait on hold tech support said they would send me a new PCB but since they were out of the boards for the MM371 they would send me one from a MM571 as they were the same. Well, they sent me an entire MM571 kit in the original packaging. I swapped out the boards and sent back the MM571 (MM paid all shipping). Set up was fairly straightforward and the unit stops at the closed position very accurately. The range on my remote is over 100 ft across open ground and I was also able to program my old remotes to work with the unit. But after two days the unit would not work. When the button was pressed it the arm motor would start for a fraction of a second then the unit would beep once and that was it every time. Another call to tech support finally diagnosed battery replacement. Replacing the group U1 lawn mower battery did solve the problem and the unit now works well. However, my old battery voltage indicated a full charge and continues to even a week later. I was told by the very knowledgeable tech that the unit is very sensitive to voltage drop and if the voltage at any time drops 10% it stops the unit and lets out one beep. This fault, or error indication, is not covered in the manual. This is likely to prevent damage to the motor due to under voltage. All electric motors pull maximum current at startup causing a voltage drop (example - in some houses with incandescent lights they dim for a 1/2 second when , say the A/C starts) so the sensing circuit should be locked out for a second or at least part of a second. Also, If it is so sensitive to this, the wire for the battery should be a little heavier (what they sent looks no heavier than 18 gauge) to reduce voltage drop during the start up current surge. The gate does open and close pretty fast, but I'm a little concerned the start up torque could eventually cause a fatigue failure of my aluminum gate post.

Great System, easy to install, works well.
Purchased this Mighty Mule Gate Operator, together with the 10w Solar panel (MF123), Battery Case and batteries (FM150), some extra remotes, and the wireless keypad and goose neck mounting post. Instructions were straightforward, and very understandable. I also used the "Bilt" app, which had some helpful tips beyond what was in the instructions. All in all, it took me far longer to design and fabricate the mounting for our 6-5/8" fence posts than it did to install the operator, controller and battery. Installation of those was easy, although digging a post hole for the remote keyboard post was a bear due to our soil (Adobe Clay, like concrete in the summer!). Everything works very well, the remote keyboard even has light up keys for night time operation. Pretty happy to not have to get out of he golf cart or truck every time I head down to the shop. Thanks Mighty Mule, was really pleased with your system.

Great DIY Automatic Gate opener for a residence
This is the 4th Mighty mule Gate opener I have purchased and installed - since 201 FYI the gate gets cycled 5 to 10 times a day (so a estimated 2500+ cycles / year) 1st one just wasn't powerful enough for the 300 lb gate - it was still good and I sold it 2nd was a refurbished mighty mule ranch hand 360 - lasted 4 years 3rd was a new ranch hand 360 - lasted 7 years the 360 was an all in one gate opener & controller box (no longer available) I just bought/installed (3 hrs) the Mighty Mule MM371W - it's back to the old style setup: Gate Controller and Opener are separate. The all-in-one unit was much easier to to install/replace but separating the controller from the gate opener does increase the clarence between the gate and opener allowing for movement of the gate with less adjustment. I am quite happy with speed and noise level of the unit. I like the fact that unit supports additional wired accessories - I added a "door bell" switch to "manually" open/close for the kids and the Vehicle Exit Sensor ( with a Range adjustment board). I moded the wiring and added a toggle switch for the exit wand so I could disconnect the power to it - to turn off the "exit wand" when needed. I did have to drill a hole into the controller box to wire in the the door bell switch & exit wand. I previously ran conduit under the driveway for the exit sensor wiring when I first installed a gate opener. I did add a second BOX to house the outlet and AC Adaptor for the trickle charger for marine battery backup - 1st battery lasted 9 years I give them 1 star for tech support this time since they were acquired by "Nice" 1. I never got a hold of them when I needed them 2. Pre sales Technical support was hard to understand - English is not my 1st language but I make a very concerted effort to speak clearly with enunciation to be understood. I hope this helps

Failed after 18 months
I purchased MM371W when my 360 model died. (That one died to water damaging the control board which was no longer being manufactured.). Two days ago the gate didn't close. When I investigated and pressed the external button, I heard a grinding noise and immediately called the support number in the manual. After a 10 minute hold, I got a support person. I told him I was at the gate and said "Listen to this." I held my phone next to the gate opener, pressed the switch and he heard the crunching gear noise. He said, "I know what it is already.!" Apparently it is a common flaw. He told me to disconnect the arm extension from the gate. I did. "Pull it out," he said. I did and it came right out. The internal end was threaded. He said I needed to buy a new arm and motor unit. I asked if I could just get a new gear box. He said no, you can only get the arm unit. A replacement arm was $300. The entire unit was $400. I raised a stink. I wanted to know what the failure rate was, that I wanted to talk to his boss. After a lengthy wait, I was told I would get an email, that I needed to send photos of my installation and a copy of the sales invoice. I did all that but haven't heard back. Doesn't matter--I open up the arm assembly, saw the nut and washers that held the extension arm to the bearings in the gear box laying limply on the cast aluminum frame. I opened up the gearbox and saw that no teeth had been damaged. I put the nut back on with good torque and got the unit working. I'm not happy yet. After the holidays I'll reopen the unit, remove the arm extension nut, and add Loctite to it and perhaps a PalNut as well. The upshot of my experience is this: if your unit stops moving and the controls seem okay, don't buy a new mechanical unit until you've opened he unit and checked the big nut that holds the arm extension. Everybody knows someone with mechanical skills who can easily fix it. Mighty Mule apparently can't, but you can.

Updated replacement for model 350.
Had a 350 that worked well for a number of years but started becoming unreliable and I wasn't able to successfully troubleshoot it. The 371 was a drop in fit but needed to mount the separate control box. It's working well and I really like the increased speed of opening and closing.

GARBAGE - causes safety concerns and accidents
I had to buy this, as a replacement to a MM360 that I bought in 2018. The circuit board acted up, and of course, MM doesnt carry parts.....but were happy to sell a new one. (planned obselecense, anyone)? So now I have a useless MM360 that gets chucked in the garbage, and the 371 is its replacement which was twice the price. This product is cheaply made and also has reports of fauly logic boards as well. I installed it, and because its different than the 360 was (even though its claimed to be a direct replacement), I had to drill more holes in the gates, and realign everything. Because the wiring is different with the board outside the unit, it was a complete rewiring job as well. And I look forward to MM deciding that they will replace this model in a couple of years, and not carry any other parts for it....but would be happy to sell me another one. Dont buy this product. Look at the reviews for other products, they have a better record than these clowns and from what I udnerstand, stand by the product.

Great deal
Needed to replace a gate part and this replaced the whole part cheaper than just getting the part

Works great. Had to buy the Mighty Mule RB741 Remote Control Transmitter (6pak) extra.
This was easy to install and has worked without a problem for about 1 month. Shipped on time and worked as expected.
