The hardest part of this unit wasnt their fault. Finding a store with distilled water to do the calibration was horrible. Finally found some and after the calibration was done. It was been accurate enough for my plants and they are very happy. Shocked by the house ph levels but our RO system is working well. I really appreciate getting a device that does what it says. Also make sure to shake the water off well with a good strong swing if you are checking multiple sources. It makes a difference. Just dont hit it on anything. Just swing like you put your finger in a hot pot. Quick and strong. Other than that it's exactly what I hoped for.

I bought this as a backup for a very similar unit with a different brand name. Unfortunately I put off calibrating it until the other unit started failing, only to discover that this one could not be calibrated. I was able to get through the first reference liquid 6.86, but then it simply refused to accept data from the second and third reference samples. It was impossible to calibrate anything but 6.86 (and I know how to do it because the other unit works the same way). Even the 6.86 calibration is useless: the unit does not measure ph even remotely accurately. Meanwhile the return period is over so I just have to eat it and find another one quickly. I gave it a few stars only because this represents a sample of one and they did not have a chance to make good on it.

So here's the issue with these. Ive bought 6. Only 3 have worked. The reason i give them a 3 out of 5 still is when they work they are far faster and just as acurate as much more expensive units ive owned. Plus they seem to keep working a good long while. So somthing to think about...

I wish this came with a pH chart to understand what you are reading. Aside from that great buy

I thought buying this would make my life easier than using the strips. What a mistake!! This does not calibrate. I used the appropriate distilled water to create the three solutions eack one with 250 ml of water and powder. The first one that is supposed to read 6.86 does not go above 4 on the meter. I have tried it several times. The next solution should read 4.01. That one just reads 0!!! I didn't even try the third one becauise I was so disgusted at this point. Now I am out of the return window for Amazon.Who knows if this ever worked properly. I just assumed it did because it said factory calibrated! What a joke!! DO NOT BUY if you treasure your plants as much as I do and rely on a proper PH for semi hydro! This is just a piece of junk and belongs in the trash!!!

Got this after my other brand broke. Works like it should!

I was slowly killing my plants not realizing I had to adjust my ph in the water. Once I got this tool it allowed me to see how far off I was so I could adjust. Very easy on /off button stick it in the water for a quick number display view of the %.
