It is not rust proof. I brought this for my fence in September when I went to cut my grass and had to unlock it I noticed rusting on the locking mechanism. Now I have to buy another lock.

I used it on my shed doors. The other lock would stick and was not easy to use. This one works well. It is smaller than I thought but it works perfectly.

It was supposed to be a outdoor lock but it beame rusty inside and could not be pressed in in a few months without any rain.
