How good are these in the bad rain and winds we get in the south coast ? Anyone used for over year ?

the lights come with a sticky pad to glue to a surface . There is also a screw provided to fix more permanently and more robustly . I have not had any problems with the ones I have mounted outdoors with a screw due to wind and rain .

How to know the mode settings there are no more indicators

There are only 2 mode settings that I have found. On continuous. And intruder mode that will come on upon movement.

How good do they work in winter?

I bought these in the summer, obviously they don't receive as much sunlight during these winter months so I have mine set to come on only when activated by the sensor and there's no problem during the whole night. There's another setting that you can choose from which is a constant dim light but this only lasts a few hours but enough to light the way when returning from work at 7pm. If you choose the third option for a bright constant light, then you can expect this to last only an hour or so as it drains the storage very quickly. I hope this helps x
