They work and are very attractive and stringy, but they don’t close snugly.

I recently installed a small gate for my garden area to help keep the dogs out. This hook was really easy to install and came with the screws to screw this lock into the gate. It is easy for me and my wife to unlock and lock when we need to get through. Even my kids are able to get through, except for the littler ones since they can't reach it. We recently had some really windy days and not matter how hard the wind was blowing, the lock still stayed latch. Even with water hitting this lock, I see no rust at all. Before installing, I did measure and place the lock and hook on the gate before actually screwing these in. So it did require a 2nd person to help holding these while I marked where I needed to drill holes. Only needed 1 but like that it came in a 2 pack for the just in case I need another one.

My handyman installed them in about 1 minute each. The worked great on my hollow core doors with the original screws. Handyman knew where to install them. They look great and I assume they will be durable. The look sturdy. I have a cat who opens doors by jumping on the handles.

I got this 2 pk of barn door latches to place on the gate in my side yard. My dog is a brat and likes to try to break through the fence even though it is made of solid wood. She takes the door in her mouth and tries to rip it off. By placing these hooks on the door it secured it so thay she wasnt able to pull on the door. The hooks are nice quality and seem well made. The door is now held in place and she is unable to move it. These 2 little hooks have given me piece of mind!

I installed two of these on my back storm door for added security as I felt my door's handle lock could be be easily breached with one good hard tug. The latches are so well made it reminded me of the quality goods we used to have in the 1950's. Thick steel, even the paint on the latches is heavily applied. The only thing I did differently was use my own 1 1/2" screws for the latch catch part as reinforcement. I'm buying again for my front storm door. Super glad I got these!

Looks great actually. Only draw backs are how strong of a latch you need...as the metal loop is soldered to the plate and looks like could be broken easily with a strong tug. But, we just need it to keep kids out of mechanical room so no concern for us. Product appeal is in it's aesthetically pleasing design.
