Monitor works well, Viewer should be aware that this product has a shelf life and if not shipped within the time frame stated on the outside of the package from the manufacturer will lesson the as started 2 year warranty. The unit will shutdown after the 2 years as stated date on the box. The manufacturer offered a partial refund comparable to the time remaining of the warranty. This is now the 3rd item I have purchased from amazon and the product did not make the stated warranty. To me this is product dumping, and if you want to spend your personal time to send it back they will be happy to refund the sale. I will purchase similar in person and check before walking away from the counter.

These units are perfect as a personal protective device for my staff! Will work for a Municipality in the Sewer Collection / Wastewater Department. They have provided alarms when we are cleaning sewer lines or just opening manholes. They easily attach to the uniform and the clasp is strong and as with any job, that OSHA phrase: "Has to potential to cause harm or death" is covered. They are reliable and if instructions are followed on usage and upkeep they will function for 24 months. Cost wise, it breaks down like this, 2080 work hours in a year x 2 years of operation equals 4160 hours divided by the cost of $130 equals .032 cents per hour.

Unfortunately, it was not clear--seeing the number on the front of the device..that it actually does not show the exact PPM levels for H2S. It will show OSHA levels of 10 PPM and so on. An alarm of sorts. We are trying to measure the H2S offgassing from beached seaweeds that are an infestation in the tropics. So 10PPM will at least le t us know if its dangerous. But lower levels are also a problem for children and elderly. Would be nice to have one that could give lower levels. This works, but it was difficult to get it to the tropics and now it may not offer what we need.

The refineries I visit all now require you to carry an H2S detector. My company has them but it's easy to walk out the door forgetting to grab one so they are all out with other people. For the cost, it was worth it for me to just buy my own. Activation is dead easy, the time remaining is indicated and as you get closer to the expiration date, the time reading gets more detailed.

Standard H2S monitor - I hope I am never in a situation where the alarm should sound. The clip has held the monitor securely to my Nomex coveralls.

I had an accidental exposer to H2S earlier this year that made me unable to work for 3 months. I’ve been using this model since then and it works just fine.

It does not provide a readout of H2S levels, completely useless unless you work in a place of very high H2S concentration, it is merely an alarm
