Range Hood Grease Filter with Lens - 10-7/8x11-7/8x3/8

This filter is exactly what I needed to fit the range hood that I’ve had for over 30 years.

I have an OLD oven hood and the screen assembly was just too hard to keep clean so I replaced it. I measured the dimensions and within minutes, I found it online. Ordered it and it arrived within 3 days or so. It fit exactly as measured. I am very pleased with the overall purchase and experience.

Fit in my hood perfectly but it didn't come with clips. I think the filter will stay in place though because there's a metal bracket just above the filter slot that should block it from going up into the fan. I would prefer clips to hold it in place though.

I recently moved into an older dump of an apartment. The previous renters used the range exhaust unit without a filter. Management was to cheap to replace it. So I searched the internet and Amazon was the only place that I found this at. I wish they sold a washable/reusable filter with lens in this size.

This filter is not the same as the original one that came with the Universal Metal Industries range hood. The original one has a thick many-layered aluminum weave filter. This new one has a thin aluminum weave filter, with a black plastic filter clipped on top of it. The new one is much louder. I think it restricts air flow and the fan noise is at least 50% louder. I'm not happy. I don't think I can return it because I used it for about 1 hour total. So instead, I pulled it out and spent 30 minutes cleaning my old one with ammonia and Ivory dish soap, and an old toothbrush. I put the cleaned up old filter back in and it's much quieter.I am giving the replacement filter 3 stars because it does work. But it is not the same, and their photo doesn't show this. See my attached photo to see the black plastic filter. I am out $20 now and I'm not happy. Because it was $20 I thought I was going to get the full original quality.
