I love this candy - when purchased fresh in Vermont. I was excited to see it offered here and ordered it only to be very disappointed when it arrived. The maple candy did NOT have any additional wrap or seal to make it appear safe to consume or fresh. The box was partially open with crumbs in the larger box. Candy had moved all around making it unappetizing to give as a gift. I will not order this item again, unfortunately. I was happy to see it offered, but completely unsatisfied with the packaging of the product for consumption and safety.

These came and were hard as a rock, not a crunchy crust then creamy inside like the Vermont Maple ones. I didn't think there would be much of a difference. I was wrong. They are still in my pantry months later. Maybe I'll stick them in my tea or something bc they are useless as candy.

I am so sad. I was looking forward to these candies as I hadn’t had one since I was a child but unfortunately, not only did they come all displaced but there were hairs all within the box. Additionally, there was no seal of any sort and that makes me nervous when it comes to food. Too bad we didn’t get to leave a review based on taste as I prompty returned them. :(

Wow this was a disappointment. Maple sugar candy has been my favorite since childhood. But, this...blech! It's poorly packaged so the candies were piled up and the box was open. The candy was dried out and tasted kind'a metallic. It seemed as though it had been in the box for so long it took absorbed some of the metal in the tray, and then dried out.I highly do NOT recommend this product. Unless of course you want to throw your money away.

I looked at some of the other reviews and have come to realize that this candy is not enjoyable for everyone. If you're trying it for the first time, it might be a very different experience for you, but I grew up on this stuff and I love it! There were other reviews that complained about the "graininess" of the texture (that it wasn't creamy like some other brands). The problem with the more creamy brands is that they are usually not pure maple - they are combined with other substances to give them the smoother texture (such as pure cane sugar). While I can also appreciate a smoother texture, the other mixed ingredient brands don't compare to the pure maple flavor you get from this brand. To those of you who hate the taste of this product, it doesn't mean other people won't enjoy it. Don't give it one star because of your personal palate preferences - that's not the fault of this product.

As much as I want to leave a horrible review so other buyers don't find out what an amazing treat this candy is, I can't out of respect to the families that work to produce real maple products. This is the real deal, pure maple sugar that I grew up on when a treat was called for. It's a bit crunchy if bitten, and melts if savored. This isn't the local grocery stores maple flavored syrup and well worth the money.

Oh my, I simply love this maple sugar! It is absolutely delicious. It is just maple syrup in sugar form, in the shape of small candies. Think of it as maple sugar, instead of candy, and it makes more sense. If you love real maple syrup -- you'll love this. But if you don't like real maple syrup, and like the maple-flavored sugar imitations better -- this probably won't be for you. Our family grew up on real maple syrup, whenever we could get it, Mom always said the real stuff was healthier for us, she was right. I actually love this more than chocolate! (most of the time!) If I get a craving for something sweet, I can break one of these little maple leaves into about 3 pieces, and slowly eat 1/3 of a piece, for very few calories, and it doesn't leave me craving more and more, like chocolate does. I'm just content with a small piece. Pure maple syrup/sugar has a lot of trace minerals, that regular sugar doesn't, not even agave or honey packs in minerals like maple syrup, not even close. I just wish this company sold bigger boxes of this! Absolutely delicious! Thank you to Butternut Mountain Farms, for making such a wonderful product, and for this lovely treat. I've made this box last two weeks, sort of rationing it out, and I'm going to have to order more!

This candy is wonderful. However, the way it is packsged at Amazon is very careless. This is my second box, a replacement for the first which had torn open cellophane. Two candies were strewn around the box. I reported this and was sent this replacement box. Again the cellophane was torn open and ALL the candies were helter skelter among the other delivered items. Amazon needs to either overwrap the candy box or send it separately. As it is, these wonderful maple leaves are not edible.
