Budget Bass Can Play Like a Much More Expensive Brand
Out of the box, it looks great and is very nicely weighted compared to other basses I've owned. The neck joint/pocket is perfect. The neck finish was a bit rough but with a little 1000 grit, it smoothed out nice. It's not a traditional Jazz bass neck but it is solid and straight. I filed the nut to get the strings where I like them but will probably replace it with a bone nut in the future.I gave it a proper setup, dressed the fret ends, and replaced the strings with Rotosound 66's. Tuners work properly and stay in tune. I haven't plugged it in, so I can't give feedback on how it sounds through an amp. I use it for noodling while sitting on the couch watching TV. Overall, I think this turned out to be a very good bass considering the price. Buy this bass, watch some good setup videos and enjoy. Lots of good Luthier tools on Amazon that will help with the setup.

Lots of good components for a cheap price.
For me this Glarry is a great platform for making my own custom bass. I’ve enjoyed doing kits because I like the customization that I can do. I think this is better than a kit because the components are better than anything in this price range. The neck was thick but a uniform maple grain. I sanded it down and now it’s a nice smooth comfortable neck. I also stained it and sealed it with satin polyurethane. It looks like a vintage neck. The body had a nice clear coat that saves all the grain filler for a nice paint job. I did a seafoam green and polished it to a nice satin finish. The tuners are really good, I just used some dry silicone sealer and they are really smooth. I gave the chrome a muratic treatment to age them. The black pick guard looks great. The pickups sound nice after I replaced the controller with an Alnico loaded controller. It was $20 bucks and feels like a much more expensive upgrade. The pots are large and good quality. I put D’Addario XL Half rounds on it and they feel smooth like flats but let the J Bass bridge pickup maintain its unique sound. All in I’m at about $150. And this bass sounds and feels like the much pricier one that I’ve never been able to afford.

Surprisingly good
I don't know what more to say other than, for the price, this is a definite deal! I purchased this purely for home recording and I am happy with it. It looks really nice, is surprisingly light and sounds pretty decent in recordings, a little muddy perhaps but that's easily fixed with an EQ The only thing I noticed was a couple of the pots produced a bit of noise if turned on full, but turning them back just a fraction immediately removed the noise. The pots also don't seem to adjust the sound particularly smoothly - it takes a few extra tweaks before any change in sound is noticed, but for this price it's really not a big deal at all. There is also no toggle between the neck and bridge pickups - it's all done through the pots. But again, it's certainly not a deal breaker when you're spending less than $100, in fact it's amazing that it even has 2 pickups to choose from! Straight out of the box this bass played well, other than needing to be tuned it didn't need to have anything else done to it. The action is low enough without causing buzz, I didn't notice any intonation issues - honestly, I'm so surprised that a bass at this price actually works relatively well!

Very pleased with this bass
I am very happy with the finish of this guitar. I couldn't find a flaw anywhere and the sound is totally acceptable. The POTS are low quality with little range, but 99% of the people who buy this instrument will leave them maxed out anyway so they are not a big deal. The tuners aren't great but they are good enough, and easy to replace if needed. I've heard a few complaints about the neck being a bit chunky. I don't think it is but I have big hands so you'll need to consider that if it is going to someone with small hands. I'm going with 4 stars because the fretboard looks like wood from an orange crate that was sanded and dyed to look like Rosewood. I have several guitars with Rosewood boards and this is not the same by any stretch of the imagination. Frets are good and smooth with no noticeable fret sprout\sharp edges. The nut is plastic. I'd rather have a bone nut but the plastic is fine for a beginner, and it helps keep the cost down. As you've probably read elsewhere, it is neck heavy due to the exceptionally light body. The neck needs a setup but I won't knock the guitar for that. Any new guitar should have a full setup done anyway. Overall, this is still a huge bargain. It looks great and sounds really nice, and anything better would cost considerably more. I totally recommend Glarry for anyone of any age wanting to learn bass guitar.

Excellent instrument for the price!
For 100 bucks this thing is hitting way above it's price point! I had to lower the action but after that and a tune, it plays freaking great. The only negative is that the neck on it is HUGE. Other than that...this thing is freaking awesome!

Punches way above its price
I dont understand how they can manufacture and ship across the sea not only a fully functional bass, but a quality bass at that with an amp!!!! for only 89 dollars. The finish is good, set up was decent, the fret work was on point. Great for a Beginner, or back up for an advanced, or home recording. I'd take it on the road and not worry about my expensive guitars anymore. Its amazing, quit thinking about it. Just get it for the ships and gigs, be suprised.

I already have a Glarry Stratocaster and am so pleased with it that I wanted to try their version of the Jazz Bass. The paint and finish on the body is immaculate and seems to me to be as good as that on the Fender even at its lower price point. The neck is not as good its Fender counterpart; the fret ends are not as finished and the semi-gloss / matte back feels a little 'draggy', not as fast as the Fender. If it doesn't wear-in and improve over time I'll consider getting another neck, but this a very usable and being slightly lighter overall than the Fender is actually easier to play... highly recommended!

I am very impressed by the quality of this bass. I'm 72 years old and have been playing mostly guitar since I was 13. I took double bass lessons during my teens and played in a couple of garage bands and taught guitar up until 5 years ago. I bought this bass to to keep my hands exercised and I am very impressed with how well this instrument is built. Very little tweaking was needed to improve the playability. Something that instruments costing 5 times as much need as well. Great instrument for a young or new player. I'm very happy with my purchase.
