Good book about speech impediments
I had to read this book for my special education class. Short and sweet with a great story about real life!

A must have for every SLP!
I'm a Speech Language Pathologist, so I love stories about kids with speech and language disorders. This book is about a boy who stutters who grew up to advocate for animal protection. I was really excited when I found out about this book from a coworker. I read through it and oh man, it touched my SLP heart. I love the story line and was able to do a few therapy sessions with this book as the focus. It's so good for other people who stutter to understand that there are other people out there who share the same problems. Then we learned about the author, Alan Rabinowitz, who is an amazing guy. He has done amazing things for people who stutter and animal protection. The illustrations are quite lovely and striking. I love the author's use of space on the pages for some of the words to really hit at the meaning of his words. I would love to watch a video of the author reading the book, it would be so awesome. I did find some You Tube videos the author has done, he really is a fascinating guy.Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. Especially to anyone who stutters or works with people who stutter.*Please note that although I often review items at discounts in exchange for honest reviews, I bought this for FULL price and just wanted to share my experience and recommend.

Depressing and traumatic
This is a format for children, but the themes are traumatic and difficult to explain to young children, As an SLP, this book is not anything I would share with a student who stutters.

A boy and a Jaguar
I was intrigued when I read about Alan Rabinowitz and his new children's book: A boy and a Jaguar and ordered it straight away. I love collecting special children's books and in particular ones who foster new approaches to relations between humans and wildlife. This is a lovely book and I would definitely recommend it for children -- a good addition to school and public libraries. Also good for those who suffer from stuttering -- Most of us have run into this and know how people with this condition are shunned, taunted, etc. This is a very sensitive portrayal (all true!) of a young boy with this condition and how he grew to deal with it and also make the most of his special ability to connect with animals - in particular jaguars. The illustrations are lovely and a joy to look at. It makes me want to follow up by reading his adult books regarding jaguars. Highly recommended!

Beautifully written true story!
If a parent has a child stutterer this is a great book to read to see the wonderful possibilities for a bright future. I highly recommend all teachers and speech therapist to read this book and add it to their library for children and their parents!

This is a fantastic book about a boy who stutters
No issues receiving the item. This is a fantastic book about a boy who stutters, his inability to speak, and his promise to speak for the animals if he ever finds his voice. Having a son with learning difficulties that also loves animals, this book really spoke to me and him both.

Ehhh.
For sure not my daughter’s favorite book. It’s lovely that it’s a true story but it’s not written very well.

Inspirational real life story
This is an inspirational and sensitively written book that doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. It captures the loneliness a communication difficulty can have, the social isolation that can be experienced and the resilience that children like Alan have to learn at such a young age just to get through the day.A moving, emotionally charged real life story that would be perfect to share with classmates, teachers and family to raise awareness of the impact a stutter (or any speech disorder) can have on a child’s life.

very good short read
Highly recommend this book , it has a good message on two topics in one story and definitely can leave that " lump in your throat" feeling. The author of this book overcame challenges, faced new ones around the world and accomplished great things that true hero's do.If you want to inspire a junior animal lover or conservationist then this book is a great start.
