Mirror Study Bible - Paperback 1144 page, 10th Edition 7 X 10 Inch, Wide Margin. Review: Refreshing and inspiring translation - I've been a bible student for 40 years and studied Ancient Hebrew for 2 years. In that time I had come to realize our available translations are VERY misguided and seen through a lens of retribution, that I believe has caused much dualism (I'm right/your wrong, Democrat/Republican, In/Out, Saved/un-saved, white/black, gay/straight, etc. in western countries (look at our world & politics today and in history). Very long story short - this lens has been passed down since Rome took over Christianity in 313AD and made it a religion of power, greed, money and war. Most Christian's will not question their faith because it is so ingrained, but there is a scripture: It is the wisdom of God to conceal a thing, and the honor of King to search it out. Example of what kind of understandings got twisted: Judgment: It is understood to be penal, a courtroom setting where your guilt (sin) is decided whether you're guilty or not. If guilty, you go to jail (Hell). In Hebrew language, Judgment is understood as restorative. A doctor will judge your condition so to be able to restore your health. Punishment (oxford dictionary): the infliction or imposition of a penalty as retribution for an offense. Punishment in Hebrew means the pruning of trees (cutting off dead branches that will hinder it's growth). This can be very painful in a person who has much aspects of their life that do not reflect the love of God. But our God is a God of Love and is not out to destroy (means "come to ruin" in Hebrew - not death) any of his children for all eternity. Eternity (the big one and easiest to research if you look outside of standard Christian sites - Like: Ancient Hebrew Research Center): Eternity does not mean time without end. It is literally an age, long or short. It's Greek word is AION that is derived from the Hebrew word OLAM (forever). In my short summation of this word, it is: The timing of God choosing to accomplish His will. i.e. "Jonah was in the belly of the fish forever, UNTIL 3 days later." It only took 3 days for God to get through to Jonah. Back to THE MIRROR BIBLE: This is such a beautiful translation of the heart of God (love) and has a break-down after each verse of how he came to his translation. You will fall in love with God more than ever before reading this bible. Review: 5 Stars for Mirror Bible. 3 Stars for Wide Margin - I love the Mirror Bible as I have no complaints at all. I highly recommend this to everyone. This is not something for the King James "Version" onlyists in here to get all upset about. The cover plainly states, "A selection of key New Testament texts PARAPHRASED from the Greek." No need to leave your negative comments that Francois du Toit was not being absolutely literal. It is a paraphrase and the best one out there! He makes reading the Bible an absolute joy. My only wish is that the margins were a little wider. You have very little room for notes above the text, and you have little room to the left and right of the text. If you have shaky hands like me then it is hard writing small to make your words fit nicely next to the verse you comment on. It is also hard writing notes in-between the middle of the two pages because of the binding. You have approximately 3/4 of an inch on both right and left side to write in. You have about 1 3/8 inch at the very bottom on most pages to jot your notes down. The chapters that end early on a particular page is where you have plenty of room to jot notes down. I would not mind a leather bound Mirror Bible in the future. Something about the smell of good leather when reading the bible makes it extra enjoyable. Definitely worth the buy! Love this literary work!
Love this Bible! It's so ALIVE and impassioned! Of course, I don't read this exclusively, but it's a great work of Love, expressing some things not heard from the King James crowd. Thanks, FDT!

Eye opening - hard to put down.
While not the whole New Testament (it's a work in progress) it is quite thick and with each new book added it gets thicker. I would hope that it could be offered in thinner volumes. There is one that has just the gospel of John and one of his epistles, and Revelation. But some books, like Luke and Revelation are large all by themselves. Still it's a study bible and not meant to be carried around. It's translated from the original language and not from other translations. The author explains the full meaning of the Greek and offers insights from the culture of the time. His commentaries, included with each verse, are most insightful. I have trouble putting it down. If one has had a problem with self worth this is the bible for you.

Not your standard Bible
Have not used it very much so far in study. However, it does not seem to be easy to navigate from chapter to chapter.

welch genial Art, modern und wissenschaftlich, mit Herz und Hirn übersetzt (und interpretiert) in eine wunderbar poetische und detaillierte auf den Punkt gebrachte Sprache.

Our Identity in Christ articulated in the right translation of the Bible. To know we were in the mind of God long before creation. You have to read it again and again and my heart jumped with joy at reading the Good News. Best Book you will ever buy!
