Great light!
I wanted this for hand quilting. Is bright enough that I don’t need any other lights on. Light weight and comfortable to wear.

Love it!!
Probably one of the best things I've purchased for needlework and reading! This little light packs a powerful punch for sure! I use it for doing needlework at night. Use this anywhere you need to. The elastic neck strap works just fine for me. If it wears out I'll make my own adjustable length one. In the meantime I've used this while watching tv to do detailed needlework. Seems that whether I use all 6 lights or just 3 it's a great help for low light situations. I have the red lens on it for nighttime. I can see perfectly fine in pitch darkness with this being the only source of light (red lens) when hand sewing. It took several tries to get the lens to snap on completely. Could only seem to get 3 corners on easily and fought with the 4th but it finally did click on all the way. Was a little afraid I'd break the lens but I managed to do it, so I'm sure you can too! After it's on and off a few times it should be easier to change them out. All of it fits really nicely in a cell phone case I found on Amazon too. Going to look for the magnifier lens to add to it. I'm using rechargeable batteries in it when not near an outlet but when it's plugged in I take the batteries out and store them in the case. I just might have to get another set up put together to keep in the truck. So happy I bought it!!

Cheap Strap; but the light is good.
UPDATE: Just want to add an update that the manufacturer sent me a replacement strap that I secured to the light and as long as I don't pull too tight on the strap, it does stay put. The manufacturer was VERY helpful and pleasant. I have since shown this product to lots of quilting friends, and they have purchased lights for themselves.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The only problem I had with this light is the strap that goes around your neck is very cheaply made. I used this once while on a long plane ride and the strap broke mid-flight. I grabbed my needle/thread and sewed it back together (I know, right) and it lasted through my flight. Then while using it a few days later to finish up some applique stitches, the other strap broke. Ugh! I'm back home now and this light is thrown back in the box. I'll pull it out again once I figure out a way to make a more usable neck strap. As far as the light, it was bright enough to shine onto my lap for sewing.Beam n Read LED 6 Hands-Free Task Light; Extra Wide & Extra Bright Light from 6 LEDs Plus 2 Blue Light Blocking Relaxation Filters [2015]

Excellent for needlework!
I use this for needlework and absolutely love it. Over the years, I have tried several different lighting solutions, some of which worked so-so, most of which were poor. This is everything I want - hands-free, very bright, adjustable neck strap to get it positioned just right. I do suggest that you go one step further and buy the optional power kit so that you can plug in and not have to worry about how fresh your batteries are, though. My one complaint about the Beam n Read is that it goes from full brightness to "why can't I see?" very quickly when the batteries start to go. I don't hold that against it in the product rating, because that wouldn't be fair in anything that is battery-powered. The optional power kit even comes with a six-foot extension cord, so you don't have to sit right next to an outlet to use it. Please note, I did not receive a discount or anything for free in return for my review. I'm just a very satisfied customer.

Wonderful device. My wife uses one every day in her quilting work. It provides just the right added light for the close work required to finish a quilt. Trimming the quilt edge is commonly fine hand work. This lamp is the answer to seeing the fabric and sewing it properly. The LEDs flatten the light just enough to make the trim form stand out clearly rather than the color patterns. This eases stitch placement, and stitch length. The ability to change illumination levels works very, very well, and is very useful in changing natural light conditions. This adds measureable value to its' use. Last but not least, the attachments straps work very well. They hold the lamp in position, are easy to adjust, and do not interfere with the work being done. All in all we consider it an excellent purchase.R. Funk.

Overpriced for it's build quality
Yes, it does provide light in the direction you want however it is way over priced for what you get. Very cheap plastic housing and hinge mechanism for adjustment. You can do 'as well' for much less with other products on Amazon. I would not recommend this item.
